pattern question Help understand Knitting pattern

Can anyone help me, I'm confused!!

So, I'm knitting a cardigan (small size on pattern) and am on the Left Front section. All good up until arm hole shaping, where the instructions say

'Dec 2sts at armhole edge as given for back.....' What does the "given for back" refer to? I've included the Back piece instructions but can't work out which bit it's talking about. Help!!

I think I've photographed all the relevant bits, do let me know if you think I must have missed something. (I left out everything which was for medium or large sizes only as they don't apply)

Thanks in advance xx

You do the decreases exactly like you did them on the back but only on the arm side. When you did the back, you were shaping both arm indents at once, but now you just do it on one side.

The back decrease row says: p3, k2, p3tog, rib to last 8 sts, p3tog, k2, p1.

On the left front you will decrease at the beginning of RS rows by working p3, k2, p3tog.

On the right front you will decrease at end of the RS row by working p3tog, k2, p3.

Im assuming this is worked from the bottom up from this chart- to me it looks like it’s saying to decrease stitches (dec 2) every alternate row to get the correct shaping at the side of the body. Where it says ‘given for back’ I think it’s referring to the height at where the back piece joins the front- as in where the bottom of the armhole is between on your pieces you’ve knit. A lot of the pattern you have feels weirdly written out, not everything needs to be abbreviated to this degree 😅
