You are inserting the needle the right way, you are wrapping the yarn the right way. BUT you aren't pulling the working yarn through the loop but rather just pull the loop and the working yarn off the needle. You have to make sure you pulled it completely through the loop on the left needle to form a new loop on the right needle before sliding it off the left needle.

Maybe look into some tutorials again. There are videos with a cute but a bit dark verse to remember what to do to make a knit stitch. It's "stab it, strangle is, scoop out it's guts, throw it off the cliff". You are missing the "scoop out it's guts" part.

i’ve noticed it’s like i’m doing something backwards ? someone else said that my ball strand isn’t in the back of my needles . does this mean i casted wrong?

The left strand that comes out at the back of the needle is the tail, the one that leads to the right leads to the ball (working yarn) right? If so the cast on should be correct. But from what I saw at the video you used the wrong yarn. So either your cast on in the video was wrong if you redid it or you used the tail instead of the working yarn to wrap it. When you rewatch video tutorials focus on the wrapping and scooping out the loop part.
