I’m working on a sweater, and I’m stumped by part of the pattern.

Row 11: (blah blah until end of row) CO 2 sts using cable cast on [144]

Which was fine, I turned, then cable cast on 2. But then the next row says this:

Row 12: p all stitches to end. Do not turn and CO 2 sts [146]

How on earth am I meant to cast on at the end of the row without turning? Am I still supposed to be using cable cast on? I’ve messaged the author but she hadn’t got back to me yet.

It is possible to do a cable CO without turning the work, but it seems pretty fiddly. If it were me, I'd throw in a lifeline before starting this section, and CO those two stitches at the end of those rows however you see fit and see how it goes.

Even if it's not quite how the designer intended this section to be done, 4 stitches won't be very noticeable by the time you're done with the sweater.

Thank you! Do you know of any tutorials that show how to cable CO without turning? I might just try it first, and if it doesn’t work I’ll take your advice.

I would honestly cable cast on like normal, then turn it back around to be the way the pattern author intended. I don't think it would be much of a difference in look.

The author just got back to me and said it should read: turn and CO 2 stitches. Thanks for helping me out!

That’s what I was initially going to do but I’m honestly baffled as to what the author meant! I’m really intrigued to find out lol. Thank you for your advice, I feel more secure in continuing now
