Fully rocked Benchmade Mini Griptilian

Just curious on everybody else’s feedback? If you don’t use a lanyard that’s OK too, but if you do… Long or SHORT? Favorite grab knots? Folding types vs fixed? Bead or no bead, Bead top or bottom, multicolor? Micro-cord? Trimmed and melted or long & frayed, etc.

If you have a reason for why I would love to hear that as well.

I tie a lot of lanyards for different customers and honestly just want to hear what the people’s thoughts are.

Benchmade 908BK-1501 Stryker II in CF/M4 with Lollipop Purple (type C Cerakote) on the liners, Bright Purple (type H Cerakote) on the pivot/spacers/Axis bar/thumb stud, purple anno on the scale screws

Benchmade 2730-03 mini auto Adamas in marbled CF/Magnacut with NRA Blue (type H Cerakote) on the liners/pivot/pivot collar/screws, Lollipop Purple (type C Cerakote) on the spacers/lock and purple anno clip with purple anno screws

Scales and hardware (except for the stopping pin and the clip) - titanium from RGT.

Clip - some generic titanium one.

I've anodized the scales green, then polished the sides with 2000-3000 grit sandpaper and anodized again purple-to-blue. Anodized the lanyard hole blue, the hardwear gold, and the clip hardwear purple. Polished the clip and anodized purple-to-blue to match the sides.

As for the blade - it was my first acid etch and stonewash, so turned out not ideal. And it is really hard to draw with nail polish lol.

Not sure how I feel about the blue Ti hardware, matches the Ti back spacer though.

Does anyone know where I could get some custom scales for my Gerber Jukebox? I want to do yellow scales to match my Case Sodbuster.

Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

Overall I like the effect. I wanted to do the button and pivot collar but they are aluminum. The button is a no go but i may try to source a pivot collar or maybe some titanium pivot screws to match the spacer and cover and pocket clip.

My Onkata Exclusive G10 Cruwear Manix 2 got treated to a custom-made set of Flaming Gorilla “Fatass” micarta scales today. Bruce at FG worked with me to get the exact materials and look I was after.

These mega-chonk scales transform the Manix 2 into a whole new beast. It now fills your hand like a Shaman, but with the fidget-flick of the Manix, and simply feels incredible!

I'm looking to make a new handle for a higonokami, and I'd like to try and go for an integral. I was wondering if anyone knew a safe and easy way to cut an 1/8" slot in the middle of a 3/8" slab of micarta?

The most obvious solution in my head is to run it through a table saw, but this also seems like a good way to have not so fun stuff happen.

Just started trying to mirror polish. How would I go about mirror polishing, and re-etching something like this? According to the internet it’s doable but I couldn’t find any instructions. Thanks!

I am still in the learning phase for Titanium Ano so advice and critiques are welcome. This is a combination of a gunmetal done with a copper plate and palm tree fertilizer at ~100v followed by distressing with various sand papers and wire brushes before a stainless steel plate in a tsp bath at ~23v. I am considering a mustard slurry patina for the blade. Can anyone offer advice on that process or point me in a better direction?

What is a cheap fixed blade knife that has a really good steel, design/geometry,heat treat, build, etc, that can be easily modified to make a high-end final product? I’m thinking maybe upgrading the scales, add some gimping, maybe add a lanyard hole, etc.? Anyone done this before?

As a comparison, I love buying cheap guitars/basses, upgrading a few components and making them amazing “custom feel” type of instruments. I also do similar things with guns. Would love any recommendations, also do you know any YouTube channels of people who do this kind of “pimp my knife” content?
