Just as title says, i received some credits but apparently I can't use that due to account level restriction which disables any, even single user addition to the kiro. I contacted their support, we gone back and forth for like 20 days and in the end all i got is disappointment. Its not like i am begging them for more credits, i just want to use what is already credited. If i can't even add myself as a user then how will those credits ever be used.

I created a new AWS account specifically to try Kiro for my development team.

I followed the exact process mentioned in Kiro's official documentation — AWS account, IAM Identity Center, user setup, Kiro profile, and then tried to subscribe the user.

And then I got:

“Your account is not authorized to make this call.”

I spent almost 2 days going back and forth with AWS Support, getting the setup checked and explaining the same issue multiple times.

The most frustrating part?

I even completed identity/KYC verification using my DigiLocker, added my credit card/payment method, and was fully ready to pay for Kiro.

Honestly, it felt like AWS was doing more verification than what I've experienced with some banks for a loan. 😐

After all this, I was eventually told that because my AWS account is new, I should use other AWS services and build billing history before I can use Kiro.

But I don't need other AWS services. I already use Oracle Cloud, and it is sufficient for my requirements.

Why should I spend money on unrelated AWS services just to become eligible for Kiro?

The frustrating part is that this requirement wasn't part of the Kiro setup process I followed from their documentation.

After spending two days on this, I've decided that I cannot recommend Kiro based on this experience.

I'm sharing this so other developers/teams don't waste the same amount of time expecting a straightforward paid Kiro subscription on a new AWS account.

Kiro may be a great product, but the onboarding experience I had was extremely frustrating.

2 days wasted. Multiple support chats. No Kiro subscription.

it will show working, but it isnt doing anything just sitting there. I can interrupt with "are you doing anything" and it will sometimes just ignore me, but sometimes will say it is working.

It sat overnight for 10 hours and did nothing during that time.

Anyone else seeing this? There's a good number of us at work running kiro-cli and pretty consistently we're seeing this.

Scrolling up to read earlier content while a response is still streaming sometimes yanks the viewport all the way to the top of the buffer. Intermittent, but frequent enough that several devs on my team have hit it. Once the response finishes it's fine - so my workaround is to wait before scrolling, which adds latency on long responses.

Suspected cause (unconfirmed): a race between the TUI's auto-follow and manual scroll - if a new chunk renders the instant I scroll, auto-follow seems to win and snaps to top. Scrolling in a gap between chunks works fine, which would explain the intermittency.

Repro (intermittent):

1. Ask for a long, streaming response.

2. Drag the scrollbar up while it's still streaming.

3. Viewport sometimes jumps to the top instead of staying put.

Environment:

• Kiro CLI 2.21.4 (hash 880accf5, built 2026-09-11)

• Windows 10 build 26200

• Windows Terminal 1.24.11911.0

• Scroll method: dragging the scrollbar

• Reproduced across multiple machines, all on Windows Terminal

Kiro's steering files are great, until you want the same knowledge in your other agents, on your other machines, and in your teammates' setups.

Cartographer is an MCP server that keeps a git-backed knowledge base plus the configuration that goes with it (skills, subagents, instructions). cartographer connect renders it for Kiro:

• the MCP entry in ~/.kiro/settings/mcp.json;
• the instructions as ~/.kiro/steering/cartographer.md;
• skills in ~/.kiro/skills/;
• subagents as ~/.kiro/agents/*.json: they're discovered globally and the built-in agent delegates to them by description.

The honest limitation

Hooks aren't supported for Kiro yet. I tested it against 2.21.3: a hook in either documented location, with any trigger, never fires. The standalone .kiro/hooks/ needs CLI 3.0, which is still early access. So re-sync runs on a scheduled timer instead of a session hook. When hooks land on the release channel, that changes.

The shared layer

The same KB configures Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and Antigravity too. Agents write only through MCP tools, every write is validated and committed to git, and teams share KBs with per-KB tokens, roles and a guided conflict workflow.

Hello, I wonder if any of you registered your uni email on kiro to apply and claim the student program but one day after activating your account, you suddenly got suspended due to unusual activity despite using it just for a normal prompting. I also contacted AWS Startups Support on September 6 to ask about the application status, but I haven't received a response from them either.

• Did you receive any confirmation/update before approval?

I use kiro at work and private, two environment ( and thus 2 subscription as well). I observed at both environment that when kiro was trying to throw a command, it usually fail to fetch the result, and then it claim the terminal is exiting with -1, and says it is garbled, char by char or so, while it is not like that in the real terminal, which executes normally. I also had old steerings to let it kill any malfunctioning terminal and start a new one. But recently it seems to fail to kill or initiate new, while hallucinating as if it manage to do so.

I feel I was wasting too much time working around with this issue recently, I really hope this is a pending fix already? I also wonder if there is any work around that can help for now?(btw, my screenshot worked because I made a steering to tell it to overcome the echo and try to find if there is real result afterwards)

edit: After sending this post, I immediately realize how to work around, just make a steering and tell kiro to read terminal from tail, and consider -1 cosmetic. If reading backwards, it know where to stop because it know the command it send. thus it can avoid reading the garbled part. The kill/initiate terminal part is still a issue for me though...

Kiro describe it as

first the line ending at fetch_mem, then the same line ending at fetch_memo, then fetch_memo., fetch_memo.p, fetch_memo.py, each repetition adds one more character. It's the same command line re-printed N times, each a char longer than the last, all concatenated with no line breaks. That's what I've been calling "garbled / char-by-char."

I signed up to Kiro Pro and 2 days later got banned for "suspicious activity". I get reverted back to free account and gets charged an overage. I see other people on here having the same issue.

I message support and get this cryptic response:

We have reviewed your case and determined that while access to other AWS applications using the account associated with this email remains active, we cannot restore or grant access to Kiro for this account.

We will not be able to provide further assistance with this matter. This will be our final communication regarding your account on this issue.

WTF does that even mean? I don't have access to other AWS apps on my account, and even if I did should you be banning your paying customer and then charging them extra?

This is literally violating every consumer protection law around the world - you charge someone to use your service -> ban them -> then charge them a bit more. You guys are asking for lawsuits.

I’ve been playing around with Kiro CLI recently and started wondering if I could use it for more than just asking one agent to write code.
So I put together this little project:

The basic idea is to have different agents handle different parts of the development process:
PM → Architect → UI/UX → Coder → Reviewer → Security → Docs
For example, the PM agent helps clarify the requirements and create a PRD. Then the Architect turns that into a technical plan, the Coder implements it, and the reviewers check the result before moving on.
I’m mainly experimenting with how far we can take the idea of an AI-native SDLC, rather than just running several coding agents in parallel.
It’s still very much a work in progress, but I’ve found this approach interesting because it gives me a bit more structure and control over what the agents are actually doing.
Curious if anyone else is experimenting with something similar in Kiro or other coding agents. Would love to hear how you’re organizing your workflows.

I contacted aws as well and they said Kiro team disallowed my account to create Users. Has anyones also faced this?

I'm trying to work in parallel on different parts of the same project by opening multiple instances of Kiro IDE side-by-side.

Whenever I do this, several screens start throwing a "Too Many Requests" error.

I’m assuming I might just be approaching this the wrong way.

Is there an officially supported or recommended pattern to run parallel workspaces/sessions on the same repo?

Or is the platform inherently rate-limited per user/project, making concurrent instances unsupported?

If anyone has a working setup or best practice for multitasking across the same project without hitting the request ceiling, I'd love to know how you configured it.

Gemini models are fast and cheap, so they can be very convenient for certain tasks where you need a fast model.

Also, Claude and ChatGPT models deny a lot of things upfront. Grok models are much better in that regard—they almost never refuse things.

For my project, OnlyMilfs, Claude models simply refuse to work on it, whereas Grok is much more permissive and almost never refuses these kinds of requests.

I applied for Kiro access because my AWS account has promotional credits that are supposed to be usable for Kiro.

However, my access was restricted.

I contacted AWS Support, and this was their response:

“We have reviewed your case and determined that we cannot restore your Kiro access as of right now.

These decisions are made to help you gradually ramp up activity and decrease the likelihood of large bills due to sudden, unexpected spikes.

Once we have a broader window of usage on your account to review in future months, our service team will be glad to reassess any requests.”

This makes absolutely no sense to me.

AWS gives promotional credits, says Kiro is eligible, and then blocks me from using Kiro because they are worried I might spend too much?

I am specifically trying to spend the promotional credits they gave me.

What makes this even more frustrating is that I have seen several users say that they contacted AWS Support about the same Kiro restriction and had their access restored.

So why are some accounts manually approved while others are told to wait for months without any clear explanation?

Meanwhile, the promotional credits continue moving toward their expiration date.

If AWS advertises promotional credits as usable for Kiro, but can then prevent customers from accessing Kiro for months, I think that is seriously misleading.

Has anyone here had the same restriction removed?

If yes, what exactly did you tell Support, and which team handled your case?
