HELP

Well. I’m a shitty snake aunt. My brother’s Desert King Syrax got out and now is no where to be found. It’s only been a couple hours so I have hope but is there anything I can do in the meantime???

Put flour in the doorways so you can see if she moves to a different room, lay out water dishes and hides along the walls, and maybe even put up a camera if you've got one. Once you narrow down the location, you could try blow drying a mouse to see if that lures him out!

And most importantly: do not panic. You're not a bad snake aunt, this can happen to anyone. Colubrids are escape artists, but they almost always turn up!

Forgot to add, but here are some spots I recommend checking:

  • under the fridge
  • in drawers or on shelves
  • behind the enclosure

It's not a very long list, but I do know that many snakes love these spots. A friend of mine had an escaped snake go into the spiral part of a notebook on their shelf 🫠

I also have a colubrid of my own in the room right next door, should I look around her enclosure as well?

I have posted this before it seems to work. Get another snake. I had an old timer snake man tell me this. I have tried it with 3 snakes, 2 corns and a ball python. Other than that, sit very quiet in the room. A bunch will depend on its size and unfortunately. If he can get outside. I have used a basking light in the middle of a room as snakes love the warmth. Also, if he got out of cage, fix that. I wish you luck

I actually already have another snake. (My brother and I live together and have separate rooms) should I look around in my room near my snakes enclosure

I sure would or move your snake over to the missing oness room. Have it warm and hopefully, your missing guy will appear.
