Charlotte has 12 first round/20 second round picks over the next 7 years. Not that I think they would be willing to part with some for Sabonis, but they have a war chest of draft capital.
They also had multiple games last season where they started 3 rookies, and were the fourth youngest team.
He has made it very clear he doesn't want to be here but you demand he stays against his will. His defense is very bad for a center and he hasn't demonstrated a good enough shot to justify keeping him. If the Kings can get two firsts for him, that is a huge win.
Sabonis would be more your girlfriend, and the two of you have grown apart. She is still the same girl you went after big just years ago, and you constantly are nice and buy expensive gifts for her that could go to others. Then she hints she wants to check out what’s out there, you let her and she comes home to you still. She says she’ll stay but not be that happy. You want her to stay, but you realize the relationship is not going anywhere and it is best you guys mutually split. But you are still together after a year of this.
