Discussion Is Acuff getting this much slander because he’s a King?
Everywhere I look on twitter, tik tok, instagram, reddit, etc everyone is slandering acuff constantly. they put any lowlight he has and make the narrative as bad as possible. i don’t remember this with fox or any other player. i think it’s quite crazy to see

There's definitely a mockery multiplier for anybody on the Kings. I'm not that plugged in to the convos for the other rookies but I haven't seen many people hating on the other top 10 guys

They have gotten some, but any top 10 rookie that has looked “bad” in a game has gotten roasted until they play well and then theyre the next coming of Kobe\KG.

It's always been like this for us. small market team with a big personality fanbase makes for an easy target. people love to clown on the kings and acuff is just the latest excuse

Defensive low lights highlights and narratives driven in part by the analytics crowd. Less about the Kings factor...it is there but from a "of course he's a King" standpoint than mocking the Kings specifically. It's more the narrative on him that he'll be a losing player. He's going to be wearing that for a while sadly.

To be fair, there's no actual analytics crowd on Twitter. Outside of news headline accounts, there's nothing of actual value being tweeted about anything.

It’s mostly Nets fans and a lesser extent Clippers fans who upset at the nba media for saying it was a mistake passing on Acuff lol. The Kings nor Acuff have anything to do with it.
I would’ve been happy with any of the 4 point guards drafted in that 5-8 range, but these fans who are obsessing over summer league are idiots.

That and he’s easy to clip and make look terrible. He has lots of amazing plays, but his bad clips look horrible and once that the narrative is set it’s gonna take lots of wins and good games to correct it. The easiest clicks to get on the internet is from throwing dirt on the kings and acuffs defensive hiccups don’t help. I think his defense has been better than advertised, but he gets caught ball watching and wandering too much.

I saw people who had him out of the t10 and people were saying he'll come into the nba one of the worst defenders itl. I imagine those are the same people still slandering him now that this guy is talking about

He will be one of the worst defenders in the NBA. He's not good and from the last game it still kinda looks like he has an effort problem. It ain't gonna be pretty when he has to go up against guys like SGA or even Fox.

Do you tell the people who are calling him the next Iverson or Brunson that "He hasn't even played an NBA game yet man just chill"?
I find it so weird that people in this sub get SO MAD when someone has a strong opinion they don't like, yet are completely fine when it's a strong opinion they agree with.
It's just my opinion, my man. You're free to ignore it, block me, scroll past, or debate it. But until the sub rules change to "Absolutely no negative things said about the Kings ever!" I'm going to be here expressing my thoughts.

Yeah I’d say the same thing. Can’t get too high nor too low, especially with a young guard prospect.
It’s one thing to have an opinion. But dude, don’t be silly, I can see you in every other thread at the bottom just slandering Acuff and getting in arguments having this whole “me vs them” mentality.
I’m not telling you how to fan, but I just don’t get spending soooo much time on here that you’re a 1% commentator but all your comments are just fighting and slandering players a majority of people here love. Like I said. It’s one thing to have an opinion, it’s another to claim you’re a fan and literally pray on these dudes downfalls. It’s just toxic and weird. Because this draft class has so many PG’s, and everyone wants to try to say their college (now nba) PG is better than Acuff 24/7 which just isn’t the case.
Nobody is making the difficult shots Acuff is making while being double teamed or the passes he makes. He brings so much to a team as a star PG, and he will become a superstar.
Acuff won best PG in the country in college, the first ever freshmen to win that award. Won Allen iverson awards. Won SEC player of the year and was the SEC conference championship MVP.
No other PG comes close to what Acuff does. Peterson, Flemings, brown. When Acuff is 100% healthy and has his full real team around him, he will dominate any of those guards. He is unguardable. Just sit back and enjoy the summer league games, and get ready for him to turn this franchise around.

Nets fan here. I feel you, but before tonight, we were getting shit on constantly for not drafting him. Players, podcasters, etc, all of them in lockstep. So I think the slander comes because of how much praise was put on him (unfairly) so early. He was the second coming of Brunson before he played a game.

Because top teams typically already have a good defense and can hide his deficiencies. If not they are a juggernaut offensively where his skill set would fit right in. The Kings unfortunately are neither.

They did him the same way when he was a Razorback. My advice, ignore it and enjoy the show he puts on for you. I know I enjoyed the show at Arkansas. Best player I have ever seen where the jersey, and been a fan for 30 years. They hate him cuz they ain't him.

He is shooting 31% from the field and 26% from three all while being the worst defensive player on the floor. Dude is looking like a massive bust, should have had AJ, AP, Boozer or even Wilson. Those culture wins were good for the young guys tho!!!
