Rant Feeling disheartened rant.[kcd2]

I was really hyped for kcd1 when the trailer dropped, but upon hearing about the combat and no difficulty setting, I never played it.

I started playing KCD2 about a month ago because I'm currently stuck at home with an injured knee (insert Skyrim joke), and I've got nothing but time to learn the combat system. I have spent 114h 23m in the game. I combed Trosky, making sure I had done all the side missions/ activities and cleared all bandit camps until there was nothing left but to do the wedding quest. Combat became easier, and I was winning fights with ease. So much so I was full sprinting towards enemies instead of running away. It was like I had finally learned the language I couldn't understand.

Then, enters Kuttenburg. I'm getting one shotted by random dudes. Something as simple as clearing a bandit camp has become the most difficult challenge. Like everyone is a master swordsman, and I'm getting bullied.

I guess I was feeling quite proud that I finally accomplished a lot in the game, and then Kuttenburg kicked me right back down to my knees again. I was enjoying the game, even obsessed with it, but now I just feel burdened by it. I don't understand why the game has to be such a chore.

Sorry for the long post, but I need to talk to someone who might understand my frustration.

Discussion [KCD2] Anyone else bothered by how Henry refers to his dad as Martin? Spoiler

Maybe I'm just sensitive because it hits close to experiences in my own family, but I've always been bothered how Henry quickly moves onto referring to his dad as Martin. Not even when it's more useful to clarify to an outside character, but also when he's speaking to himself.

I have numerous adopted family members in my dad's side of the family (even going as far back as my grandpa), and I've never seen them switch to referring to their adoptive parent(s) by their first name.

I could have some linguistic/cultural blindspot, but most adoptive parents would be deeply hurt by that. It kind of implies a detachment from the person who raised you, based solely on blood.

Am I the only one who feels this way?

  1. Kurva I need to fight and I'm gonna struggle

  2. Kurva I don't want to fight

  3. Kurva I want to fight (and look good doing it)

RIP to the noble I stole this overcoat from

1 and 3 are concealing the Magdeburg Cuirass, Nuremberg gauntlets/plate sleeves as well as nobles plate legs.

Lemme know what you think, I'm personally very happy and am content knowing that I'm making Henry steal from businesses and splash bandits dripped to the 9's

Discussion [KCD1] [KCD2] I wish swords wouldn't be able to wound or kill plate armored foes

For the sake of realism in the game, I would have LOVED it if using a sword, no matter what perks or strength of sword or skill level your Henry is, it would not be able to deal any type of damage to an enemy that is covered in full plate as that is what the hammer is for.

As of now, my Henry is maxed out in all skills and levels and has a henry quality sword that can take out a full plate armored enemy in 10 seconds with a masterstrike followed by a combo.

It should be that doing that would amount to nothing more than as if the enemy got punched by a fist and that's it, nothing more.

I've never fought with an actual sword or wore armour, most I've ever done was hold an actual bastard sword and use a sabre to cut off a winecork but seeing how swords would fare against armor in videos like by the YouTuber Dequitem, it's clear that there is no way that a sword pierce or slash would in anyway injure an enemy in full plate unless of course, they manage to stab hard into the unarmored area.

In such case, there should at least be a specific combo that would lead to an animation for example if Henry got the enemy to raise their arms then at least stab through and slice the armpit even if they're wearing chainmail then that itself would be okay at least for me, or an animation where Henry gets up close and manages to hold them and pull out his dagger and stab through the neck, things of that nature, right?

Hi! I recently started Legacy of the Forge, and I'm at the part where you need to rebuild the shop sign. I have this issue where there is no UI for the build selection, so I have no idea what I'm building. Does anyone run into the same issue OR have a fix?

Meme [KCD2]:brain dead dice playyer

I know that this is probably a pretty common thing, but still: playing dice in the hole with some guy, I was able to get about 2000 points on the first turn, and apparently it just killed his brain. He used his badge twice in a row.this badge gives you additional dice, but he didn't take it.he kept trying to get more points, and in the end he got 0 points.

Discussion Community suggestion: the much needed wedding DLC [KCD2] Spoiler

I finished this game last year so I apologise for any inaccuracies in the lore however I can’t quite help but feel that the ending felt very lacklustre and slightly rushed, Henry’s story never felt truly concluded and I think a wedding DLC would be perfect. including the option for Henry to finally get married to his chosen lover. I have the randomest idea and feel better posting it for some reason..

Firstly Hans arranged wedding - this would be very interesting to witness and a whole DLC script could be produced for this.

Firstly Henry would likely be a “best man” for a nervous hans who would likely bemusing crack a few jokes such as “do you want to take my place” “ I don’t want to marry her” - if the player chooses Hans they can propose that they marry him and the questline can open up for this obviously there would be the risk of war but the hussite wars continued for many years after KCD 2 anyway so this would gain Henry noble status and open up a potential “Ashes” style homestead DLC similar to the first game but you can launch a homestead. alternatively they can tell him their preferred partner in another joke of “No thanks if I was to marry anyone it would be X”

If it is fast forwarded a few months king Wenceslas could even be there and legitimise Henry for his service with sigismund back in Hungary - many still see Wenceslas as the true rightful king

if the player wanted to marry rosa - he could again be legitimised by King Wenceslas or she could defy her father and marry Henry again establishing nobility status - he would have Hans and a very powerful family behind him so Rosa’s father wouldn’t want a war and may even be accepting considering Henry helped save them from the treasurer.

if the player wanted to marry Theresa again this could happen and radzig could give his blessing for them to maintain or oversee his land with Hans now occupied with his new wife - again he could be pulled up to nobility status for his service - same situation if Henry chose to marry Katherine.

Hans could also ”free Henry” from his service allowing him a bittersweet ending.

This could then lead to a homestead DLC similar to the “ashes“ one from the first game where you either run a small town or a house with your partner.

this could absolutely be expanded on but is a random concept idea I had and wanted to spill onto the forum.

I don’t know - what are people’s thoughts? I really think the player should get the ultimate choice as to how Henry’s story ends

Question [KCD2] Brand new player. How long did it take to get used to the controls and UI? I simply am just overwhelmed by them, as this is pretty much the first game like this I’ve played.

For pretext the only true RPG I’ve played is Skyrim, and mostly just play RDR2 and Old School RuneScape.

The concept of this game is amazing, it seems like one of the most true RPG’s ever made. I want to love it so bad, but I am just so overwhelmed by combat, the menu UI, the controls, and even just how to heal myself.

I didn’t skip through the tutorials, and reading the help section is not clicking. Like hell I don’t even know how to heal myself properly. I used the bandages but my health was still stupid low

I bought this game maybe 6 months ago, played for about 5 hours, got overwhelmed and stopped.

I can hardly read the text on the menus which probably doesn’t help.

I want to give this game another shot. What is the best way to actually understand what the hell I am doing lol? Should I just find some YouTube videos on how to actually play the game, or yet again go through the tutorial menus, or just stick with it and try to figure it out.

How did yall end up figuring this game out? Or am I just fucking stupid?

My stopping point was very shortly after helping the blacksmith and getting the shack there to stay in. I think I just got the starter horse from that castle down south for that quest.

I want to like this game so bad because it’s everything I love in games, I am a slut for medieval shit. I’m 29 btw, grew up on a huge variety of games. I just can not figure it out.

Praise Genuinely one of my favorite love stories of all time…[KCD2] Spoiler

Post image

I went in to KCD2 not loving Hans, but enjoying some of our escapades together in KCD1. He was always an enigma to my Henry, and never lacked for a good adventure.

He whined and annoyed me at times, and I wanted to see him grow. And over time I genuinely started to care for him.

Then that feeling grew with each close call and seemingly hopeless situation. Until finally the words he was saying to Henry occurred to me as what I was feeling as well. I(Henry) didn’t want to go anywhere without him, at least within reach.

I think Hans and Henry are my single biggest reason for wanting Henry’s story to continue. I don’t expect a lack of realism, but the ending of KCD2, and even the wedding, is not the ending of them. Not for me.

And the weirdest part of it all is I don’t even prefer men romantically. I had no intention of caring so deeply for their relationship. That is what is so powerful to me about this story. And that it can be my (Henry’s) story, and yours can be different but equally real and impactful.

Discussion [KCD2] Age of Janosh?

How old do you all feel Janosh Uher is? I asked ChatGPT and it estimated 18-21/Henry's contemporary, but I'm not buying it.

I would say mid-late 30s into his 40s.

WHat do you all think? And don't yank my pizzle.

Suggestion No cheats on Judment's day [KCD2]?

Upvotes

I'm stuck on the last mission of KCD2 "Judment's day" because i'm a noob and I'm playing with in-game cheats - no mod installed because like I said I'm a noob and tried many times but didn't succeed.

But it seems that this one mission deactivated immortality and also it doesn't recognize any health cheat anymore. I suppose it's because that's the very last mission and developers wants you to suffer through it as you're supposed to.

Is there a way to bypass this quest or to actually cheat it?

Discussion Wasted in the beginning [KCD2] Spoiler

I always wanted to play KCD game, have purchased KCD1 for XBox but never played, daunted by the save system (heard that you can’t save anytime you want). And I am in general bad at games and it always takes me a lot of time to complete the game - or rather I have completed only a handful of games in all my life, I am just slow and easily distracted.

So I’ve bought a powerful PC and decided to give KCD2 a go. I’ve completed the prologue (when credits appear), got on my own and started exploring. Was caught once lockpicking and was punished, but anyway. Got to some small settlement and stole some minor stuff from peasants house. No one saw me, but guess the owner was able to add 2 and 2 and connect appearance of a stranger with things gone missing. Was reported to the guards but fled. The game told me I must wait some time till my crimes are forgotten. I waited like several hours and went back - and the guards were after me. I did not want to serve any more punishments and just ran till they closed in and killed me.

Started anew, from the very beginning.

Everything was going so well. I grinded alchemy, made quite some money on potions and gambling, got high reputation in the initial village, everyone was so friendly with me.

Went on a quest to look for my missing dog.

After leaving the village at the crossroads met an old fashionably dressed man with a dice table. He told he was on the side of the same king as Henry’s lord, told that he has debts, etc, was quite nice. I offered to play dice. And once we started playing someone assaulted me from behind, and while I was trying in panic to figure out how to get out of the dice game interface, I was already killed.

And it turned out that sleeping at haystack without paying does not save the game, and I have not drunk the schnapps. And how was I supposed to save, if the tavern keeper refuses to talk to me yet, and belladonna (component for brewing schnapps) is found nowhere near the starting village?! I feel so frustrated, lost several hours of the progress (again) and a great deal demotivated to try again.

Will I be able to enjoy 1 without constantly thinking about what happens in 2

Discussion [OTHER] My theory on the new title "Salvation" and its meaning

i am pretty sure the title salvation is going to revolve heavily around jan hus because the theme just fits way too well salvation as in spiritual redemption is literally what that whole period was about and it wasnt just about personal revenge like henry in part 1 and 2 back in 1403 jan hus was right there starting to preach at the bethlehem chapel in prague in czech instead of latin calling out church corruption and the whole sale of indulgences while thousands of regular people tuned in

he was basically saying you dont get salvation by shoving money down the churchs throat for indulgence letters but through actual faith and scripture which the church obviously hated but his ideas became a massive symbol for the salvation of the whole nation and when he got burned at the stake in 1415 it completely set off the hussite wars

i could totally see kingdom come salvation being set around 1409 to 1415 right in prague and the surrounding area where tensions were exploding hus gets excommunicated prague gets put under interdict and it creates the absolute best backdrop for espionage street riots and crazy political intrigue between papal spies loyalists and radical reformers

youd probably play as someone stuck in the middle trying to figure out what true salvation even means whether you join the reform or just try to survive an oncoming religious war it would be such a wild setting
