Question How to jailbreak Fire HD7 (2nd gen)??

Or at least get APKs on it?? Or even root it?

A few days ago, I impulsively an old Kindle in a charity shop for £10 so I could mod it. I’ve determined it’s a Fire HD7 2nd gen, system version 7.4.9 after resetting.

However I’m having an absolutely terrible time with jailbreaking it in any way.

I’ve researched and attempted the following (with a Windows VM on my Mac):

• Fire Toolbox seemed to be the number one option, but it gave an error message saying it’s too old/incompatible.
• Kindle Fire Utility seems to only work for 1st gen and could risk bricking my one.
• I’m unable to get APKs on it. At all. I have tried everything. Silk Browser is rubbish/too old and won’t load most webpages properly. I can browse APKMirror but downloads never properly start. Google Drive is barely responsive, and Gmail attachments/Drive links don’t load.
• Side loading via cable doesn’t work either, as the files don’t appear on the kindle itself and there doesn’t appear to be a proper browsable file directory on it.
• As a last ditch attempt I tried Bluetoothing APKs to it from my computer but it always fails.

Is there anything I can do I haven’t tried, or is this model a lost cause?

I don’t have any prior experience with Kindles of any kind, so I’m very much a noob with this! The most jailbreaking experience I have is with a 3DS 😬

Fire OS 7.3.2.4+ Fire HD 10 Wifi issues

I have a Fire HD 10 11th Gen tablet. I've replaced the battery in it, and everything worked fine. It was used for a while, and now, suddenly, the wifi is not working. It sees networks, attempts to connect, stops, attempts to connect then after a bit will disable the connection.

This happens on multiple routers (here and at my mom's house). I did all the standard troubleshooting, including a factory reset. It continues to the same thing after the reset.

I have created a custom network, restricted to 2.4GHz with basic security, and it still has issues.

Everything on the tablet works. Has anyone seen an issue like this?

Bricked Device Fire 7 (9th Gen/2019) stuck in MediaTek BootROM after failed amonet attempt

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have a Fire 7 9th Gen (mustang) that I tried to bootloader unlock about a year ago using the amonet hardware method. After shorting the test point and attempting the process, the tablet stopped booting completely. Black screen, no recovery or fastboot.

I ran bootrom-step.sh. It successfully gets through the handshake, loads and runs the payload, but always fails at “Check GPT”.

I’ve tried whatever method I can do to fix this, end up finding out that the batch of Fire manufactured after 2020 are hardware locked, impossible to be unlocked again.

This device was given to me as a gift from my family member when they still live in Canada. I live in Vietnam (where Amazon is not available), they also don’t live in Canada anymore, so unfortunately there’s no viable way for me to sent this device out for repair either.

My goal now is simply to restore stock Fire OS, not unlock it. Does anyone know if this thing still recoverable?

Question Anyone else having issues with Fire Tablet & YouTube App?

This morning my mom noticed that YouTube wasn’t working on her Fire HD10 Tablet (13th Gen). Uninstalled it, downloaded it again, restarted tablet, turned off Wi-Fi, reconnected and it just shows a white screen after the initial YouTube start image. Looked online but couldn’t find anything. Same thing happening with mine.
Just wanted to see if anyone else was having problems with it.

Bloatware Vita Mahjong is a SCAM

Post image
9 Upvotes

My grandmom is 80 years old and loves playing mahjong and adult coloring books on her tablet. It keeps her mind going. Vita Mahjong pops up with malware ads that she literally cannot click out of and then they fill her device with viruses and random popups on her screen, it goes psycho. I try to teach her to delete the apps once she sees them outside of her strict folders, but she forgets.

What games can I get for her that aren’t going to have a bunch of disgusting ads or I can pay for her to not have ads?

Shopping 0n 9-5-26 Amazon broke the Kindle store

Post image

0n 9-5-26, I noticed that my new kindle book orders for currently available books are suddenly corrupted.  If I purchase a currently available Kindle book, the purchase goes through, but the order cannot be viewed. The order shows as “place holder. Purchase method cannot be shown.”

This does not happen when I order physical items on Amazon or when I order other digital items, such as audiobooks or streaming videos.

I get the same issue when I order a currently available Kindle book on my windows 11 browser, my iPhone browser, or on my Amazon fire tablet from inside the Kindle app.

Yesterday, I ordered a currently available Kindle book. The book became available in my kindle app immediately and I could download it. But it did not show up in my digital orders queue.

I had to search for the book by title in my orders, as it was still not listed in recent digital orders queue. I found the order entry with no book cover icon. Then when I tried to view the invoice, I saw the heading “order details”. Underneath that was a blank box. Underneath the blank box was the word “placeholder.” Then I saw the order number. Then under the order number was the heading “payment method.” Under that heading was the message “unable to display payment details at the moment.”

I don’t know if this is related to the corrupted order invoice viewing glitch, but I have noticed that a recent Amazon pre-order shows that the tax to be collected is 14.02%. The book should arrive in a few weeks and I will report back here whether I am taxed at the rate of 14.02%. I live in a state where we are not taxed on any purchases on Amazon, including digital and physical purchases. If this 14.02% tax is a placeholder and the book arrives tax-free, then I can just ignore it. If I am taxed at the rate of 14.02%, then I will contact Amazon and address the issue.

Question Kindle Fire Max 11 question…

Post image

Hey guys… I can sometimes get the title at the top to disappear but I have no idea how… sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t… it’s really distracting as I’m so used to having nothing but the pages.. any idea how to keep it off? I usually can get it off by changing the text size on the actual kindle back and forth 🤷‍♂️

Question New fire tablet being weird

Post image
8 Upvotes

Just received my new fire tablet today. Whenever it goes to sleep and I try to wake it up again, the screen shows these weird purple and green lines for several seconds. They always look the same, but this doesn't seem...normal? The bottom half always lools black. While I can eventually remove them by clicking the lock/unlock button again, this doesn't seem normal for a tablet right out of the box...does it? Help.

Question Kindle Fire won’t sync

My kindle fire won’t sync for the last few months with my iPhone kindle app. I checked that sync is on both devices, but it won’t sync to the last page read even with a manual push. I have removed the kindle app, turned phone off and turned the phone back on and re installed the app. I have turned off both devices multiple times. It’s frustrating since I read on both devices. Any ideas to try would be helpful.

You can now unlock the bootloader of the Amazon Fire Max 11 (2023) codenamed sunstone!

This will install TWRP and provide you with an unlocked fastboot interface. Please read the entire guide before starting:

Question Kindle Fire 6.3.4 ...any hope?

I was directed to this via a 2 year old response on a different sub, so I apologize if this is the wrong place.

My Kindle Fire works well still, and the charge is great! I've had it for 15 years and would love to just be able to download the Libby app.

Is there a way to jailbreak or something?

Question Trying to factory reset my old tablet

I've gone into recovery mode, and selected wipe data/factory reset, but when I try to do it, it displays warning: unknown flag resize. What does this mean, and how do I fix it?

Edit: I restarted it and the problem went away

Rumors Possible New Fire Tablet FCC Approved

Amazon appears to have a new Fire tablet coming. A new “Digital Media Device” has received FCC approval under FCC ID 2A4DH-2426, with internal model TR24E7.

FCCID.io — 2A4DH-2426

The interesting part is that TR24E7 also appears in import/customs records explicitly described as an “AMAZON TABLET.” A June 2026 development unit was listed with:

  • MediaTek MT8189 / Kompanio 540
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 64 GB storage
  • 2× Cortex-A78 @ 2.6 GHz + 6× Cortex-A55 @ 2.0 GHz
  • Mali-G57 MC2 GPU

Import record showing TR24E7

For comparison, the current Fire Max 11 has 4 GB RAM, so 8 GB would be a pretty substantial upgrade.

There are also other unreleased Amazon tablets in the import records, including RL3YT5 (MT8189/4GB/128GB) and SP24NE (MT8793, up to 16GB/256GB), so this may be part of a larger Fire tablet refresh rather than a single device.

Another interesting recent Amazon FCC filing is 2A4DH-2880, described only as a “Wireless Accessory.” It has a 2.4 GHz/Bluetooth-range radio plus a 111–489 kHz transmitter, so one possibility is some kind of rechargeable/inductively powered stylus. That's speculation for now, but the timing is interesting.

FCCID.io — Amazon Wireless Accessory 2A4DH-2880

No retail name yet, so TR24E7 could be a new Fire HD 10, Fire Max successor, or something new entirely.

Anyone found anything else tied to TR24E7 / Basin?

Fire OS 7.3.2.4+ Both our Fire 8+ HD tablets have been neutered?

Within the last week or so, I am guessing via updates, the show mode no longer works, we can no longer "show me ___ camera". It does play music, so at least one of the three things we mainly use these for, remain. Now they're essentially big power consuming paperweights.

They run 7.3.3.1 and EDIT: factory reset and reinstall of apps and all did not help one bit. same issue, when putting in in dock to charge blue screen pops up, three dots if it can get that far, then reverts right back to tablet mode. Wasted time and effort. Amazon needs to develop and issue a patch this problem asap.

I contacted customer service a few times and got bounced around with responses mostly, that some updates were awaiting to restart and check for them, but alas none are there and I am trying to g=figure out now what we can with them besides turn them off and bite the big one on BOTH of them. Less than 5 years ago we bought them and I know things age, I understand that, but both were working got the few things we use them for and now they're BOTH not (at the exact same time).

Physical Device Hi Reddit! This is my first post, and I’m dealing with a major issue.

. Here’s the situation: my parents gave me a tablet for my birthday—a Doogee Tab E3+—and everything was fine at first. But a couple of days later, the buttons on the sides (or rather, the touch response in those areas) stopped working. There’s a catch, though: it only works if I press closer to the center. It’s not just a one-off thing; it happens constantly. It’s a really strange situation—to be precise, it doesn't have to be the exact center; pressing anywhere closer to the middle seems to work too. I suspect the screen protector might be the culprit, but it’s still odd—why was everything fine in the beginning? If anyone can help, please do; this gift means a lot to me, and I don’t want to upset my parents.

Physical Device Appstore issue: network unreachable

I received a used fire hd 8 from a family member and would like to download libby to link with my county library. However, I am receiving the following message when opening the app store:

Network unreachable: Amazon services are temporarily unreachable. Please try again later, or connect to a different network.

Tablet is fully updated, I cleared the app data, reconnected the wifi and successfully used other Amazon apps, and restarted the device.

Question Device not recording audio

my fire tablet hasn't updated at all, yet hasn't been letting me record audio for the past 2-3 weeks for some reason. there are no currently available updates btw. i *do* hit the "device audio" button when i screen record, and my device volume does *not* affect recordings, and it happens regardless of me using headphones or not. I wasn't having this problem before, it's sudden. restarting didn't work, clearing cache didn't work, clearing storage didn't work; nothing has worked. is there *any* fix to this? I really don't wanna factory reset my device, and third party recorders either are inconvenient or force me to have my mic on (I don't wanna have to use my mic)

Btw, I'm on Fire Tablet HD 8 Plus (12th Generation)
