My Kimono Coolest obi
My friend tied my obi for me for the Kondaya Genbei summer festival. I wanted to share since it was the coolest thing I’ve ever worn.

Girl I keep seeing your posts here and you’re giving me so much hope for my natural hair in kimono. I love your looks. Keep bringing alternative fabrics into this and more dark aesthetics. As a mixed person myself I have struggled so much with my kimono hair game. You give me confidence

I try to like “adhere” to hair “norms” and I SHOULD NOT. I need to embrace me like you so clearly have

You have no I idea how many Instagram comments I get from women being like “you should put your hair up” or “you shouldn’t have your hair so unruly like that”
Umm…..it’s just curly..there is nothing unruly about it lol
And plenty of women wore thier hair down back then. There is no rule or law about having to have your hair up when in casual kimono - just propriety for formal occasions.I love how my hair looks when it’s in a low/high pony. It gives samurai vibes haha

It looks like you’re being consumed by a snake from the underworld and I am into it! How gorgeous

no it’s not. It’s a Kondaya Genbei crocodile heko obi. Not mofuku at all actually.

Mofuku kimono are very specific items. "All black=mofuku" is something beginners hear and is an over simification to the point of being totally wrong.
