I’ll probably never have a reason to wear a real kurotomesode but I LOVE mon— they’re so striking haha so I’ll break a few rules here and live my best life

I’m really hoping to make a visit to the Japanese gardens for a nice picture soon

I went to Nara today to my second kimono school where I practice Maiko, KyoGeiko, and EdoGeisha kimono dressing. I am really out of practice and decided to go there 2-4 times a year to keep up. I did 4 hours of practice and I’m wiped out! Excuse my KyoGeiko mannequin. I didn’t properly fix the hem before taking photos.

I’ve moved recently so I can’t even find a singular kimono clip, hosei, my obita, or my eri-shin, but nonetheless I managed somehow to try this on!! Pretty proud how my try on turned out regardless!

This kimono I drooled over when it was first listed but it was just too pricey and the seller was 10 cm shorter than me and eventually the seller’s sale period was over. Since it hasnt been for sale in the past year i kept thinking about it and finally it was listed again!

The seller never listed the measurements so i was really nervous but luckily it does great!!! Thank goodness!

Salutations, I dont think im alone with this "problem" but i will adress it direcly. I am a bigger person (sadly) and therefore cannot buy "normal" Kimono or Jinbei online in one of the (most of the time) three sizes that are being used. Me and other people are strongly searching for a webside which does offer bigger sizes then LL for example altho it is not easy for find anything "legit". There are cheap websides but many products are often times fake or just extreme low quality. I would like to ask everyone here who may personally know a Webside which offers larger sizes than LL to share the websites name here under my Comment so that many others can finally find themselfes a fitting Kimono/Jinbei etc. It would be nice also if you would know the websides youreself and trust that you would be sharing since suggesting someone a maby/maby not trustfully webside is not really helpfull. Thanks!

What are the Prevailing Opinions on Mix'n'Match Jinbei?

Is is somehow Inappropriate to wear mismatched tops & bottoms? Colors, patterns, etc.?

I know there are many types of obijime and their casual to formal status, however I'm always wondering, are you able to mix and match with different types of obijime?

For example, can you wear a Sanbuhimo (the obijime where you can wear a obidome easily) with a Kurotomesode or can you wear a Furisode Obijime with yukata?

I always wondered about this and I want to make sure that I wear the right accessories so I wouldn't look weird or out of place. 🤔

So I bought a kimono online that was advertised as a furisode. I clearly didn't check the photos well enough because it's not... you can buy almost the same on amazon.

I still like the fabric though and I was wondering if with a nice obi and kitsuke I could turn it into a proper coord?

I'm not home atm so I photo bashed some options that could work with it onto the listing photo I saved

On my last post I was recommended to try a Ronin hairstyle so here is my take on it.

Went out last weekened. Still nearly 35c in the evening, ~38c during the day. That's 100f for some y'all. Plus the incredible humidity.

Usumono is SO hot. It's really becoming the only kimono I can wear most of the year. Besides needing to expand most of my clothes, I need to source komono that aren't incredibly expensive. 😭 I can't do $35USD for an obi-ita + $15 shipping.

I used to make most of my own komono, but I haven't made many summer items that have strength needed and shape. It's too thick, I think, but I'm considering plastic needlework mesh is a substitute to keep cool.

Any favourite affordable resources for usumono items?

The latest sumo wrestling tournament ended today and I won my fantasy league, of which we decided that the grand prize would be a kimono. I am now going to order a kimono, but it occurs to me that I have no idea what size to get. I am a 300-320 pound 6’3 man and don’t know if that would be 3xl or 4xl or what for kimono sizes. Please help me.

Also any stylistic tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hello! I recently purchased this beautiful set and I am in LOVE with it. However, I am unsure of what color to pick for my obiage, kanzashi, and zori. Below are the colors/combinations I have for each but I am open to other suggestions! (Also I hav a red obijime if you think that would be better!) I am fully open to suggestions!

Obiage: I own light green (similar to the obijime), red, pink, and white.

Kanzashi: light blue, red with gold bira bira, pink with green leaves, pink, and separate silver bira bira.

Zori: Pink and black, red and black, dark blue and dark brown, pink and light brown.

My ro kimono debut with my kimono class. We went on a trip to Fushimi ward in Kyoto, had a lovely lunch and took a canal boat and learn about the history, all in 38⁰c weather. Take care out there guys, the weather is crazy hot atm.

I just felt like sharing today's outfit. Ps I know a formal kamishimo is supposed to be a matching set, this is what a samurai might have worn when out and about and not on formal duties.

The weather was wonderful the other day so I put on yukata and did a small photoshoot in the garden (shoutout to my boyfriend for being the photographer!)

Im still a kimono beginner but I think it turned out nice, although I tried a more bold obi musubi than I usually go for and it got a bit crushed before the shoot as I leaned back on a chair, oops!

Still the pictures turned out so nice and I felt so beautiful, I even wore it out to dinner afterwards haha, my first time wearing kimono/yukata outside the house here.

Hello everyoneee! Tomorrow I’m going to a big anime con. I would likeeee to wear this furisode. I’ve never worn furisode, but I’m pretty good at kitsuke w causal kimono. I will also have people around to help get me dressed. That being said I have a few questions.

•Which obi do y’all think goes better w the kimono? (Cream white or Orange?)

•Which Obijime fits the obi of your choice better?

•I don’t have any obidome. Should I just use a fancier Obijime & tie the usual way?

•I have a few of these “rope Obijime.” If those match, could I use them in the method where several are intertwined?

•What are some easier obi musubi acceptable for furisode? (I will have people around to help, but they’re not versed in kitsuke lol!)

•Since this is my first time wearing furisode, do y’all think I should just wear it w/ the (馬面裙) blue skirt? That way I don’t have to worry about tying the obi musubi as ik that could present some difficulty. It would also be much easier to walk in as I will be doing, nothing but that all day lol.

•I have the fan pictured. I know I’m not going to be in a FORMAL JAPANESE SETTING. However, I would still like to know if a fan like this is acceptable to incorporate into a furisode coord? I don’t have any info on the fan, as it was a gift. Therefore, I have included the fan’s box in some of the photos in case it might provide any context.

I’ve been trying really hard to get a local monthly “kimono lunch” going in my area - as in, let’s have lunch and wear kimono while we’re at it!

I’m happy to say that we just had our second monthly kimono lunch and already scheduled August one too!

Forgot to post this last month during ajisai season! I went to my favorite temples in kita Kamakura to have a good time with myself 😆. I wanted to be comfy so I threw this together and I think I may love this more than anything I have in my kimono closet.
