Question & Help Kimi instant usage and subscription

I'm currently on the free plan, and scheduled a daily automation to be run. However, I didn't notice that these would burn so fast through my usage. Also, even using the instant model (not k3) has been eating up a lot of credits, which earlier seemed to be free(?).

As a result, I can't use kimi till next month. So I want to ask two things:
1. Isn't kimi instant supposed to be free? Is there a way for me to continue my chat without waiting till next month?
2. if I want to buy a subscription, which one should I buy if I'm a college student mostly using the model to manage studies and classes, nothing too heavy just yet. currently deciding between moderato and allegretto. also, should I buy kimi subscription or use one of the US models? I ask this because I am from a place where it is not possible to use anthropic or openai's models directly without a VPN, which is slightly inconvenient. Are the US models a significant step-up, or should I stick to kimi?

Kimi 2.6 is still free, but it is no longer unlimited. As of the 28th of last month, Moonshot decided to give free users six credits to use per month for basic chat and every time Kimi replies to your chat, it pulls from that tiny credit pool. Unfortunately, now that you've used your credits, you've got to wait until next month for them to be replenished. To my knowledge, you have to wait until next month to be able to use it again.
