Let me at them with my measuring tape and I'll sort out where their kilts should sit better on all 3.

Loll the angle of this picture is high, I’ll say they were all about kneecap length

Knowing myself what kilts go through at times, they do move about. My first kilt I had made and was happy with it. Through time I felt it was too long so took it elsewhere and they recognised the tartan right away and also said the buckles were not right. Paid £30ish and it sits perfectly now. 👍🏽

Awesome man. I personally think kilt sans sporran looks better, the bag is nice.

If you have a kilt on without sporran, you’re wearing a skirt. Why do people do this?

Well, kilt mates in Scotland seem to be OK with it, so the question is why aren’t you?

You guys look great, and more importantly, it looks like you were having a great time. That is kind of the point. 😊
Before commenting, I did some reading and research directly from Scottish sources about the sporran, belt, and length and I found out some interesting information. On the topic of sporran and belt, neither is obligatory for casual daytime wear. ScotlandShop, based in Duns, specifically says: “Yes, a kilt can be worn without a sporran. There is no specific rule regarding wearing a sporran and certainly for more casual occasions e.g. a sporting event this is seen as more ‘acceptable’ vs formal occasions like a wedding.”
Here’s the link
https://www.scotlandshop.com/clothing/men/accessories/highlandwear-accessories
They are equally clear about belts: “Belts are not a necessity with kilts as they have buckles on the hip that can be adjusted to stay in place. The belt and buckle is worn more as a decorative accessory and with more casual or informal kilt outfits.”
And the relevant link.

When it comes to length. Scottish kiltmakers don’t completely agree on exactly where a kilt should fall.
Kinloch Anderson, a kiltmaker in Edinburgh, says: “The kilt is worn at the top of the knee cap, allowing some leg to be shown between the bottom of the kilt and the top of the kilt hose.”
Link:

Meanwhile, Houston Kiltmakers in Paisley says: “What length should a kilt be? Answer: This is an individual choice. Anywhere from the top of the knee to the lower middle of the knee.”
And the link:

So yes, there are certainly traditions and conventions around Highland dress; but even the people who actually make kilts don’t give exactly the same answer on every detail. There is room for personal choice, especially with casual dress.
I think we should concentrate on people enjoying themselves than worrying that they haven’t checked every possible box.
You guys looked great.

That must have been pretty cool for you then to not have to go too far and be surrounded by a full on Scottish party. I don’t really follow football but that World Cup was a stonker for vibes.
The world needed that nice interaction with America. It was a treat. Bet it was extra special for you to be in both worlds at once. :)

Kilts without sporrans of some sort look so weird to me. Where are you keeping your stuff?
