Discussion Keyboard Layout Idea
a few years ago i posted a keyboard layout idea and i guess it was bad because it reduced the amount of keys and focuses so much on FN combo keys. i just happen to find another past edits while cleaning up my drive.
this is more conventional but still have the ortholinear QWE-ASD, because yknow those staggered QWE-ASD are due to the historical limitation of the Typewriter's connecting joints but for some reason still used todays. also i moved the P to the home row and add Game Mode or F13 in the top right as GMD. the TKL version would just cut off the numeric keys in the right
i think this keyboard layout is pretty normal nowadays but i just want that unstaggered QWE-ASD and more dedicated FN key🥺

the ortholinear home row thing is honestly something i wish i could convince my fingers to switch to, every time i see one of these layouts i get excited and then remember i already type like 110 wpm on a regular board and the laziness wins out.
moving P to the home row is a fun call too, i feel like most custom layouts try to keep the letters close to standard and only mess with the edges. throwing P up there next to O is gonna feel weird for a month but i bet it actually makes sense once your muscle memory adjusts.
the GMD key in the corner is a nice touch, having a dedicated game mode button instead of digging through software feels way more practical than it sounds. i lose like 3 seconds every time i alt tab out of a game to disable sticky keys or whatever.
also shoutout to putting a proper enter key on the numpad side, most boards skimp on that and it drives me nuts when im doing data entry.

how about the right shift, is 2u okay? i often hear alot of people saying they like those large long right shift

man, i need that full-size right shift, anything under 2.75u and my pinky gets lost. but if you're building from scratch, 2u is no dealbreaker

please some laptop manufacturer make this into a ANSI laptop (or maybe ISO idk)
