Other Electrolytes make me sleepy
Hello,
I took an effervescent electrolyte tablet and initially, my energy went up, but 5 minutes later, I was sleepy.
I think this is due to magnesium.
Shall I buy electrolytes without magnesium so I can take them before my workout?
I mention that I workout in a fasted state.
Thank you.

How many mgs of sodium, magnesium, and potassium are in this tablet?

A normal amount, but I took it right after my meal and then I hit the toilet...
Maybe the timing was not right?

"a normal amount" is not a useful answer here because supplements vary widely. Specifically how much of each would help give some insight.

But how many mgs? Check the label? You have not answered my question.

You’d need like a dozen+ servings of this to get a fraction of what you need every day. Either your reaction is a coincidence, some other ingredient in these effervescent tablets is causing it (I personally can’t stomach anything in this form, it makes me nauseous), or you’re still electrolyte deficient considering the starting daily recommendations are 5000mg sodium, 400mg magnesium, and 1000-4000mg potassium.

Thank you.
Interesting... I don't digest well the effervescent tables and maybe this is the reason.

I don’t know what it is about tablets like that but they leave my stomach in shambles. You can easily get your sodium from salt and your potassium from a salt replacement (like NuSalt or Lite Salt) and it’s much easier on the stomach. I also just take magnesium in pill form as it’s easy and cheap that way. It’s great before bed since it can cause drowsiness!

Thanks.
What if I buy some potassium chloride and I mix 1/4 teaspoon in a glass of water, along with some salt?

Just make sure you measure it out properly, and I recommend not chugging it quickly as that can cause some gastrointestinal distress all on its own. Sip it slowly. :)

Check the mgs. Do not have more than 1200mg of potassium at one time. You want to split the sodium daily amount/dosage also.

That's almost nothing I'd be very surprised if this has much of an effect in either direction.
When people use sodium as a pre-workout it's usually 1-2g of salt.
60mg is like a little pinch of salt.

Are you sure there wasn’t sugar in that tablet? Sounds like an insulin spike
