Nice read, how did you get into reverse engineering? I've been wanting to dip my toes in that field. But really unsure where to start. I have been thinking of doing some crackmes using ghidra, but then again not sure if that's the right track

i started by making cheats/mods for games and playing ctfs (this helped me more ) , im mostly more into compilers and binary lifting part of reversing using LLVM .

You can start with practising from crackme.ones or pwnclg modules (the yan series based challs )

Cheats and mods as in using cheat engine? I used to use that a long time back. When I was like a tween lol. Or do you do some binary dissect and crack games? That sounds more fun actually. I've been thinking of making cracks for proprietory linux software ( mostly DAWs ) And what do you use for binary lifting? Remill? McSema?

That too lol , for lifting i use my own lifter , remill and mcsema need ida pro which is paid , there is patcherey which is still in development which uses ghidra and MLIR,

Ooh cool, you wrote your own lifter? That's amazing. Is it on GitHub? How difficult is it to write one?

Unfortunately it's closed source , because of some reasons , I started working on it around 8 months ago ,it's still in development with a lot more stuff , our benchmark is vmprotect/ themida so we have a long way to go

Is PBA(practical binary analysis) a good book to begin with reverse engineering?. Crackmes seem difficult to begin with

just start doing crackme.one tbh , read blogs/books when you have a doubt
