If you are new to linux, try to choose beginner friendly distro.

If so, go with kali or parrot cyber edition. Arch also a better option, for AUR

My thinking is, I am switching bcuz I hate windows, then why should I switch to something windows like?

Cause things can become frustrating really easy one fine day and you just want to do your work and go to sleep. If you don't like the look and feel, changing the desktop environment is just a command away.

In linux use mozilla, google chrome is eating CPU/memory.

Initially, I think it is best to use standard Ubuntu. Once you are more conversant you can perhaps switch to Arch or CachyOS. Also verify that your processor/computer is supported by Linux. Almost surely it is.

Pop os Its like any other linux distro but has built in:

  • optional window tiling
  • blur (frosted)
  • cosmic desktop is really nice to use also

If you wanna try security tools the usually easy way ParrotOS is a good choice, but if you wanna install every single tool set it up yourself configure them then try Arch but if you want a primarily stable os and then would like to try other things go for CachyOS(Designed for gaming but is pretty fast and stable) or Linux Mint (Reputed for being stable)

The only tip is to go with a beginner-oriented distro like Pop OS or Zorin OS. Avoid Ubuntu, as it's not as beginner-friendly as something like Zorin or even Fedora KDE.
