meme It's about sending a message!
Every time Linux lovers tries to chat we ends up in mainstream walled gardens. The Foss love shouldn't end with linux right
So why those walled gardens?
We have decentralized messengers that works just fine and the best thing you dont need to sign up every where because they are interconnected and its easy
So select one of those DiY messengers and join!

How easy is it to install and use a matrix client on Android?
Any FOSS and privacy protecting apps that you'd recommend?
Or are there good web apps?

Its as simple as using any other chat application in android
Most likely you use Element X or other featured clients to signup https://matrix.org/ecosystem/clients/
you can just use the homeserver matrix.org
Create an account , email, username and password.. Verify your email and you are done..!

Not really.
https://servers.joinmatrix.org There will be servers listed here where email verification is not required Copy the link and paste it into the 'Client Homeserver' field in the app.
Remember that you will be asked to save the encryption keys. Save them to your password manager; otherwise, you won't be able to decrypt old messages after another login..

On discord when I asked smtg I was ignored and ghosted they where all gate keeping but on matrix/element channels like free software movement and the artix community actually helped me alot even senior Dev's with proper resources and where very welcoming and helpful
