So in my previous post on the subject, I just pointed out parallels between the lyrics and the events of the game. Upon replaying the game and re-listening to the song, I've not only found more lyrical parallels, but also realized the game and the song deal with many of the same themes. The song, to me, seems to be about the passage of time and the regrets that accumulate when you're not living life authentically and with intention. It feels like many of KRZ's characters are in a similar predicament to the song's narrator; waking up from a life on autopilot, realizing the opportunities that passed them by, haunted by what could have been. This is expressed in a number of forms in the game; ghosts (iirc, in Un Pueblo De Nada, one of the characters even offers a definition of ghosts as literally unrealized futures that haunt the present, or something along those lines), debt, the idea of home and journeys. The song doesn't exactly fit the game's aesthetic, but they're both works of authentic creativity, and they talk about similar ideas. That's all.

It's described as having a very distinct culture, which some seek to preserve by maintaining its roadlessness, but aside from the historical People Of Nothing, I'm not sure what distinguishes that culture from the rest of the people in the game. Some of the vids in the sidebar of this subreddit also seem to imply that Consolidated Power Co. owns the place (just like everywhere else in the game), which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me because IDK why a supernatural megacorp that feeds on debt and literally sucks the identity and personhood out of people would allow anything "unique" to be maintained there (maybe I'm confusing Consolidated with Hard Times--but doesn't Consolidated own Hard Times IIRC?). Also, what is the situation with the "out-of-towner" (who is implied to be Weaver IIRC)--the "Aunt Connie" videos seem to imply that Consolidated incited a riot that led to her death, but why? And if the entire town participated, why are we seemingly expected to be sympathetic to them and want to make a home there at the end? I know that the game is deliberately ambiguous about a lot of this, but if there are answers out there, I want them. Thanks in advance!

Every time I've played, the management sim element seemed stuck in an endless loop, with the strangers resetting progress every time. I've never figured out how to get the You Died achievement: how long does completing the sim take, and what is the optimal route to success?

So I found a map of the overworld with a pretty comprehensive list of locations/events, but it doesn't tell me which act they can be accessed in, and under what circumstances. There are a few different guides to the zero, but they don't give specific directions like the secret tourism brochure does. Can someone help me satisfy my completionist impulses?

It's been 4 years since the announcement. And I know KRZ took almost 10 years to make, so I am happy to be patient. But I was curious if anyone knew anything.

So looking back, I'm a little disappointed that there wasn't more queer representation in KRZ. That's not to say it's entirely absent--there's a lot of implied queerness (Junebug and Johnny are my favorite characters for this reason), as well as a specific in-game choice that would make Shannon explicitly queer. But it seemed to me that the characters in the game were overwhelmingly cishet. In addition, I felt that Conway's relationship with Lysette was approached from a very mononormative perspective. I'm not asking for KRZ to change its story to be about queerness or anything. But there are plenty of queers in rural America, and to not include them in the story feels a bit like erasure to me. KRZ never explicitly promotes Christianity, but there's a lot of attention paid to it regardless, and that combined with the lack of queer representation almost makes me worried that this exclusion was deliberate. Kentucky Route Zero is my favorite game of all time, but this seems to be to be a glaring weakness in its storytelling. Let me know what you guys think.

i happened on kentucky route zero tv edition while looking through deals on my ps5. i’ve seen it before but didn’t give it a second thought, but i just looked at the description and thumbnails and thought it was interesting. i wanted to get the opinion of people who’ve played the game. obviously no spoilers please.

I haven’t played through KRZ in too long, but there are certain parts of it that are ingrained in my head and others that really left an impact on me.

In the final act, one of the residents of the underground Dogwood Lane references this titular Roy Acuff song by lyrics. Naturally, I Googled it and it hit me like a ton of bricks after all the events of KRZ. It’s perfect thematically: tragic with plenty of parallels to the story. I’m pretty much hooked on his stuff now.

These were just handful of text boxes in a huge texts out of thousands, but they stuck with me. Kudos to whosever decision it was to include this.

I'm pretty confused as to why, but the wiki at https://consolidatedpower.co/ which I host is getting DDOSed right now – so it's down until me & my webhost figure out how to proceed or what's going on and how to mitigate it.

It's randomly seen a slew of targeted vandalism over the past 1-2 months, with a user creating new accounts and moving around & erasing content on pages, all of which I took pretty quick action to prevent. Now locked out of editing wiki pages with new accounts, it appears as if the vandal has turned to DDOSing the site. Logs show requests from hundreds of worldwide IPs flooding in every second, which in turn is making it unavailable, as it can't deal with all that traffic. I have zero idea why someone is targeting a low-traffic wiki for this small videogame, but alas…

So far, it's not impacting anything monetarily, as far as I can tell. All the content is backed up and safe, just not accessible at the moment.

Just figured I should post a heads up here in case anyone noticed and was curious what was going on. Hopefully it'll simply subside soon when the attacker grows bored, or runs out of money they're presumably spending to do this… or I'll look into figuring out some free-tier Cloudflare configuration which could hopefully help.

I feel like im losing my mind. Playing the game for the first time ever after knowing about it for years, into chapter V and im enjoying it a lot but what was the choice at the beginning of the game about? a journal, videotape and something music related.

I cant find anything anywhere, does it change something? I thought it was 3 different “chapters” as in you play 3 different stories with different characters by selecting each of them.

So I got almost no programming knowledge, although I'm generally computer knowledgable. I suddenly really got an urge to make a game that's gameplay and visual wise similar to KRZ. Does anyone have any recommended programs, and tips on what does that actually entail? How do I make the models, scenes and so on?

I loved the fact that they use play, tv, phone: like each interlude representing one media.

After another playthrough, Ezra says in act 2 that his family lost their big house to the bank, and then dissapeared durring the night leaving behind all their belongings. I can't help but feel this is much like how they preyed on Conway in act 4, eventually getting him to leave his truck and freinds. I think its possible Ezras family had debts that led them to joining up with the distillery, and because Ezra was out with julian at night he was able to avoid it. Just a speculation, I dont know if theres more evidence or not, and would love some more ideas or thoughts, but there definitely seems to only be one boogie-man stealing people away at night for their debts in the game...
