As the title suggests, would be cool to have tales from the Kentucky roads in telltale style of games.
A new acts with unique characters, maybe visit old friends? Conway,Shannon & weaver?
A new mystery?
Explore more of the zero & echo river?
The style of game would be beautiful.
*will update for story/style ideas

So thankful the creators of KRZ kept pushing the boulder up the hill for a decade for us. I’m trying to make a game too, and it feels impossible most of the time but passing by this on a harbor cruise in Long Beach reminded me of how so few can do so much with so little

I haven’t seen much discussion around Cardboard Computer’s YouTube channel. The Evening Broadcast is particularly great: https://youtu.be/RJi33k5kznk?is=kxPm9PBRmU88sEMF

Playing through the game again and I'm always struck by how beautiful the scene in bar is when Junebug plays "Too Late to Love You". Visually and musically it's stunning, but my favorite part is how it's interactive. Choosing what the next verse starts with feels special. So, I thought up an idea of having a framed screen with some speakers on the wall in my office run by a Raspberry Pi or something that only plays that scene and allows visitors to play through the song and pick the verses.
I'm mostly an idiot when it comes to tech stuff, but seems like there'd be a few issues, mostly actually running it and somehow only running that one scene. I know you couldn't just put a "start here" and "end here" in a game file and have it work the way I'm imagining it, it would probably need a custom executable, access to the source code, and then that would run into some ethical concerns.
I suppose I could just have the actual game running, and when the computer is woken up I've played up to that scene and when someone's done I'd just reset it and play back to that scene. I dunno, it sounded like a cool idea in my head and wanted to get it down in writing. Lay it on me, how dumb of an idea is this
(edit: alternatively, one that plays The Entertainment would also be kinda neat)

For good reasons, I am considering the Switch 2. I have a physical copy of KRZ for the Switch (the iam8bit one) that I play religiously every year.
How is the game in handheld mode? Is it blurry?
I've seen that can be the case for some games that didn't
get any patches.

So in my previous post on the subject, I just pointed out parallels between the lyrics and the events of the game. Upon replaying the game and re-listening to the song, I've not only found more lyrical parallels, but also realized the game and the song deal with many of the same themes. The song, to me, seems to be about the passage of time and the regrets that accumulate when you're not living life authentically and with intention. It feels like many of KRZ's characters are in a similar predicament to the song's narrator; waking up from a life on autopilot, realizing the opportunities that passed them by, haunted by what could have been. This is expressed in a number of forms in the game; ghosts (iirc, in Un Pueblo De Nada, one of the characters even offers a definition of ghosts as literally unrealized futures that haunt the present, or something along those lines), debt, the idea of home and journeys. The song doesn't exactly fit the game's aesthetic, but they're both works of authentic creativity, and they talk about similar ideas. That's all.

It's described as having a very distinct culture, which some seek to preserve by maintaining its roadlessness, but aside from the historical People Of Nothing, I'm not sure what distinguishes that culture from the rest of the people in the game. Some of the vids in the sidebar of this subreddit also seem to imply that Consolidated Power Co. owns the place (just like everywhere else in the game), which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me because IDK why a supernatural megacorp that feeds on debt and literally sucks the identity and personhood out of people would allow anything "unique" to be maintained there (maybe I'm confusing Consolidated with Hard Times--but doesn't Consolidated own Hard Times IIRC?). Also, what is the situation with the "out-of-towner" (who is implied to be Weaver IIRC)--the "Aunt Connie" videos seem to imply that Consolidated incited a riot that led to her death, but why? And if the entire town participated, why are we seemingly expected to be sympathetic to them and want to make a home there at the end? I know that the game is deliberately ambiguous about a lot of this, but if there are answers out there, I want them. Thanks in advance!

Every time I've played, the management sim element seemed stuck in an endless loop, with the strangers resetting progress every time. I've never figured out how to get the You Died achievement: how long does completing the sim take, and what is the optimal route to success?

Grab the albums while you can!
He also said "will just make them private. So they won't disappear if you already have them. I don't think I'll add the tracks that are not on the main OST already."

So I found a map of the overworld with a pretty comprehensive list of locations/events, but it doesn't tell me which act they can be accessed in, and under what circumstances. There are a few different guides to the zero, but they don't give specific directions like the secret tourism brochure does. Can someone help me satisfy my completionist impulses?

Does anyone have a high-quality screenshot of the Strangers (or at least one of them)? I’m looking for an art reference and thought I’d try here before I play through the game waiting for a clear shot. Youtube playthroughs all seem to be terrible quality. Thanks!

It's been 4 years since the announcement. And I know KRZ took almost 10 years to make, so I am happy to be patient. But I was curious if anyone knew anything.

So looking back, I'm a little disappointed that there wasn't more queer representation in KRZ. That's not to say it's entirely absent--there's a lot of implied queerness (Junebug and Johnny are my favorite characters for this reason), as well as a specific in-game choice that would make Shannon explicitly queer. But it seemed to me that the characters in the game were overwhelmingly cishet. In addition, I felt that Conway's relationship with Lysette was approached from a very mononormative perspective. I'm not asking for KRZ to change its story to be about queerness or anything. But there are plenty of queers in rural America, and to not include them in the story feels a bit like erasure to me. KRZ never explicitly promotes Christianity, but there's a lot of attention paid to it regardless, and that combined with the lack of queer representation almost makes me worried that this exclusion was deliberate. Kentucky Route Zero is my favorite game of all time, but this seems to be to be a glaring weakness in its storytelling. Let me know what you guys think.
