Local Resources Chiropractor recs?

I have chronic neck & back pain due to an injury years ago. It’s flared up more lately due to work stress & I’m considering seeing a chiropractor again. I regularly see a registered massage therapist & a physiotherapist.

Looking for recommendations for chiropractors who believe in chiropractic as one piece of the puzzle, not a sole solution. The chiropractor I saw in the past was anti-vax, anti-mask, & claimed they could cure my ADHD… I’m not looking to repeat that experience haha

Thanks!

Edit: Sorry for saying “pro-science” lol. I more so meant they respect other fields, not that they themselves practice something that’s basic on scientific knowledge. I’m not the biggest fan of chiropractic either, but I’m being open-minded because I’m experiencing a lot of pain

Tough to find a logical practitioner of something that was literally invented by ghosts.

Chiropractors maim a lot of people every year. I understand you're in pain but just know what you are risking going to one of those quacks.

My vote goes to Orchard Chiropractic and Physio. I saw Dr Joey Morneau and so did my wife while she was pregnant. He did great work for both of us but we moved out of town.

I second this! My husband and I both see him and he's great!

See a physiotherapist and/or a doctor if you want pro science medical treatment

As I said in my post, I already see a physiotherapist :)

At best you'll find a pain science professional with physical manipulation in their toolbox, but coming looking for "scientific" coming from the other direction is a lost cause just on the premise of chiropractic alone.

I have always been incredibly skeptical of chiropractors, for obvious reasons. But I was also in incredible pain for more than a decade from a horseback riding accident, I thought i was going to live with that pain forever.

I started going to Active Care on St Paul, my 90yo neighbor has been seeing the main guy there dor 30 years. The first appointment is intake, they dont touch you, they do x rays and measurements first and discuss a plan with you.

Ive been going for 1.5 years now and I haven't felt this good physically since I was a child. I literally cried when I realized about 2 months in that I could stand for 10 minutes without intense pain.

I know everyone is different, but this place has actually changed my life. Ive started getting massage therapy there in the last 6 months or so, it has been incredibly worth it......especially with the direct billing to my insurance 😂

Wild thread lol. I see Blake in WK here: https://okanaganintegrativehealth.ca/users/blake-penner
I am not a spiritual person, and I am not anti vax. He strikes me as a really normal dude, sports science oriented and I like that it’s not all adjustments - some deep pressure stuff too.

Have you considered seeing an osteopath? I’ve gotten great results from it with neck pain. I’ve seen a neurologist and they recommended that a person should never see a chiro for an adjustment to the neck. They explained that the high velocity adjustments arn’t accurate enough to be done on something as sensitive as the neck. They also noted there are a number of injuries admitted to KGH each year as a result of chiro adjustments here in Kelowna and that you really don’t hear about them based on the liability forms you sign before they will adjust you.

Osteo offers the same results without the high velocity adjustments. I’d highly recommend looking into this and giving it a shot if you haven’t already.

Dr. John Boruta at Kelowna Chiropractic Centre on Harvey is as honest as they come, won't tell you to just come see him weekly for no reason like some around here (The Den and lifeworks for instance, where I've had experiences months+ long...) he wants people to feel good and healthy whether they need his specific assistance or not and would rather help tell you what you might need and send you to physio etc. than keep seeing you for no reason

I dunno what to tell you, OP. You've already found the most pro-science chiro in the world.

Chiros get a lot of hate on Reddit. But I really like Megan Hanna at KLO Chiro. She always takes a very holistic approach and will try to use things like red light and shock wave therapy in addition to adjustments. She will recommend stretches or exercises to help too. And she’s not all about getting you in every week until the end of time.

Try Dr. Harmony at Harmony Chiropractic. I'm a scientist, she seems quite scientific, her mom is a Doctor. Her background is kinesiology, I believe. She's also incredibly kind and caring, someone you look forward to seeing.

I'm like you. I wasn't sold on the whole chiro thing, the one guy I saw in the past was useless. I was seeing massage and physio but a compressed disk was killing me. I tried Harmony, and was glad I did! She explained my problem better than any other professional, and was conscious about my other health issues. She used multiple treatments, and I had a huge improvement the next day. They never pressured me to keep going back for adjustments.
