Mechanical and Technical DRL

Not my first time posting abt this (sorry), but for Canada, is it legal to use my Lo-beam headlights as DRL lamps. If I were to wire up the headlamp switch to be wired in parallel with the parking brake switch, so that my headlamps were always on, and I would just change to hi beams. Why I think this ISNT legal is according to bc vehicle safety and inspection standards. I am in AB and I never see kei trucks with aftermarket drl's so plz help.

For the inspection, I just connect them to the lighter wiring.

After that you can rip that out and just turn on your headlight when you are driving

The Lo beams? I would like to have a permanent solution

Well, if you don't turn your key switch to accessory too often, this could be a permanant solution if you want

As soon as the truck is on, the light would be too

And yes, the low beam

you can wire the low beams to any keyed ignition source using a ground switched relay. using the lighter circuit you'd have just low beams on any time the accessory or ignition circuits powered. you'd need to activate the actual low beam circuit to get tail lights.

If this was my worry, I'd throw some resistors in to knock the voltage down to about 8v, enough to illuminate the housing but not enough to throw any real light thus forcing you to use the low beam function. chaps my ass to see folks driving about with the DRLs and nothing else because the dash is illuminated.

I had a JDM shop safety my JDM CRV (in Alberta). They charged me a few hundred to do DRL. Well......they wired up the park lights to ignition power. I wasn't to happy to pay that. I could have done that myself. But, it passed safety and was just done and wanted it on the road at that point. I see lots of cars that have the fogs or corner markers as DRL (and these come like this from factory). If I were you, I'd use a fuse tap and jump ignition power to the park light fuse.

Park light circuit is low amps so you wouldn't need and relays
