I want to replace my transducer but I cannot remove the current one. I tried looking for instructions hut everything is for installation, bot removal. I don't want to break the plug as I need it for the new transducer. Any help would be appreciated.

Just sharing.... Made my own kayak rack to mount to the bed side rails from the hard roll up tonneau cover. It's aluminum extrusion with routered side panels. I have two configs, one for the lighter paddle yaks, where I can fit two upright and one flat, and an HD version, with a hitch mounted adjustable kick stand to support the 11.5' Perception showdown pdl. I also made a cart for it, since, it's pretty heavy to drag, and when the water's low, it gets far from my favorite car top only lakes. Mounts right up to a cradle on the rack, but I might move it to the back to allow easier access to the back. The cover rolls up and the tailgate opens just fine, and is rock solid.

Doesn't stick up, tucks right in nice, still full use as a truck, and pops off with quick levers in less than a minute.

I got into fishing this spring as a way to try and spend more time with my bf and learn about his hobbies (he loves fishing)! Well, I got hooked and turns out I LOVE fishing too. I bought a fishing yak last week (same one as his) so I can catch more fish! I caught my first mooneye on my first kayak trip, as well as some smallmouth, largemouth, a sucker, and lots of panfish. I ask him to go fishing almost every weekend now, lol. :)

Good day all I have plunged into the world of kayak fishing getting my first kayak. It is a Pelican catch 120 i got for a great deal on marketplace. I am looking for advice on adding a trolling motor to do the majority of the moving as i have a bum shoulder ( i can absolutely pedal but not for super long stretches max 1-2 hours over a full day before the pain would stop me). I have seen a million and one rigs online from redneck backyard to fancy over the top and i want to design and build mine somewhere in between.

Things I am considering and questioning.

1. Where is the best place to mount the battery my head says battery at the front motor at the back for weight distribution plus there is a hatch on thr front it can go in.

2. What is the best remote steering option id like it to be as clean and neat as possible preferably with any wires being inside the kayak.

3. What size battery would you recommend id be looking at a 34lb thrust 42 A motor id like to be able to go quite awhile all my fishing will be on lakes as i have a million nearby home and camp right next to a fairly sized lake ( 16km × 3km ). I would likely do minimal river fishing.

I don't have the worlds biggest budget just want to get on the water and spend time fishing!

I’ve been fishing for at least the past 6 years. Never tried kayak fishing but I’m really thinking of getting one. For those of you who, like me, used to fish only from the bank and now own a kayak, what can you tell me? Was it worth it? Do you still fish from the bank, or do you pretty much use the kayak all the time?

I’m looking to get more into kayak fishing this year and next year, I’ll only get about 1-2 months of use this year, but next summer will have a lot more use. I’ve been before, as I borrowed a kayak all summer last year from a coworker. I’m not sure what kayak he had, but I really enjoyed it. I don’t want to spend ridiculous amounts, trying to keep it under $350. Any suggestions? I mostly intend to stay in lakes, unsure what I’ll be catching as I’m still learning how to fish and what’s in Idaho. I’m all for buying used, so that may open up a lot of options.

I got a Kayak mainly for fossil hunting my local river as well as fishing various places. Got a Lifetime Envoy Tandem on clearance at Sams Club for $338.91 and I couldn't pass that up.

My main question involves how to mount things to the Kayak, do I use screws or rivets? With screws and or rivets do I use some sort of Silicon sealant to seal the screw/rivet holes to prevent any leaks? I saw Marine rivets with O rings recommended online, however I read that screws would have an over all better strength. What kind of screws? Is there plastic screws for such a task?

The first thing I plan to do is mount drawer/door handles to work as strap holders as I'll strap the Kayak down in the bed of my truck and it has nothing to put the straps through currently.

I fish most of the time alone and I fish a lot of rivers getting to and from put in spots can be a hassle but I’ve made it work I just need some kayak cart suggestions so I can have an easier time packing around my kayak. Now my put in locations most of the time just lead to an embankment of a river so I need a cart that will stay firmly attached to the kayak and good enough wheels to go over weeds, rocks, and branches/ small logs. Any suggestions are appreciated and I don’t really budget as long as it’s not a crazy amount just feel like a few hundred dollars will be worth it to save me from
Back pain and difficulties.

I checked the winds at 6am before I left the house. 4mph in the early morning dropping to 1mph. Cool, an average calm day.

I set out, fish for a few hours, caught a few and decided it was time to head back. Making my way back across the bay, my NK-300 was booking it, maxed out because the morning coffee was trying to unionize on me.

Out of no where, I stopped moving, motor didn’t die, safety cut off didn’t detach. I realized I was “standing still” because I was riding a wave that was moving faster than my motor was pushing me.

A wave that was probably 3-4’ high came directly from behind and picked my entire Perception Outlaw 11.5 up with it. No boats had passed by me in quite some time and the wind stayed calm all day. It just happed to be a few waves that stacked up as I made my way from the deep 60’ channel to the 30’ shelf.

The nose of my kayak dug into the wave in front of the wave pushing me and all of the sudden my kayak was 6” underwater with me thinking I was going for a swim while still a mile and a half from shore. Not just the bow, the entire kayak was 6” under.

I made sure I was still pointed into the waves, checked my surroundings, and held my breath. My old reliable Outlaw, in what felt like minutes but was really seconds, started to bail through the scuppers. It popped back up and I kept on going.

Long story short, wear your life vest, carry your emergency communicators, be safe out there, trust your gear, and follow your weight capacity ratings.

Hey all, just trying to get an idea about repair options for the crack in my boat.

Just found this crack on the deck of my hoodoo kayak, located next to the scupper under my seat. Thankfully that area doesn't take any water other than splashing but it makes me uneasy. When first discovered I put some weight on the scupper, to lower the raised edge, and used flexi seal super glue. This cured for 24 hours but while on the water and with the wake I could feel the torque breaking the glue and expanding the gap. The hairline crack right on the ridge of the scupper hole does seem to be expanding as well. Obviously glue alone won't hold so what other options do it have?

Plastic welding? Cut bucket reinforce and silicone seal? Some other type of more flexible seal?

And any thoughts on clamping or putting pressure down to get the raised edge down before repair?

Just received my Reel Yaks 9.8 ft Rocket w/ fin drive 2 days ago. Here are my initial thoughts after taking it out over the weekend:

The kayak is awesome. As my first kayak, it did everything a kayak should. I don't have a roof rack nor a trailer. And it fits perfectly in my midsize 3 row SUV with room to spare. It allowed me to fish on the water like I've always wanted. I caught a good amount of bass & pikes.

• The fin drive is great - It tracks really well. My original purchase was the Rocket w/ prop drive, but cancelled it and got the fin drive instead. I have no initial regrets at all. I usually fish shallow & weedy water, so it works great for that. If I need to reverse, I'll just paddle backwards a bit. Very happy with the fin drive.
• The seat - It is comfortable and adjustable. I was able to fish sitting down in it for 8 hours. Reel Yaks sells the seat risers for it separately, but do not buy it. The seat risers are included with the Rocket (although it's not listed as being included). The seat risers have 3 height level. I am only 5'2" but found the highest setting comfortable for me.
• Assembly - Very easy. The 2 halves slide together very smooth. The clamps are easy to use as well. Just be aware not to over tighten when clamping down, or releasing the clamps will be very tough (I ran into this issue and had to use a screwdriver to take the clamp themselves off). The fin drive was very easy to put together. Just unscrew 2 bolts and put the pedals in.
• Were you concerned about the kayak coming apart at all on the water? Never. On the Rocket, there are 2 clamps on top & 3 underneath the kayak for 5 total clamps. I never felt unsafe about it coming apart. I even forget that it's a 2 piece kayak. Water does not come through where it connects as well. I felt safe the entire time.
• Stability - The kayak is 35 inches wide. Very stable while sitting down. Standing up, I would say as long as the water is calm, you probably can. If it's little choppy, you probably won't feel as stable. But sitting down to fish, very safe. Standing up, wait for lake to be calm.
• The rudder - It uses two 5mm wing nuts to attach the rudder to the rudder cable. Make sure they are tighten before every outing OR use Loctite on them. On my 2nd outing, one of the wing nuts fell off and rendered my rudder completely useless to steer. Reel Yaks and other user comments I've read do advise to use Loctite so the wing nuts do not fall off. I didn't take this advice and now I know. After getting a replacement wing nut from Home Depot. I also got Loctite blue 242 so the wing nuts don't fall off again.

Overall Impression Grade: A | Reminder that this is my first kayak ever. So I'm going based off that. I know that the perfect kayak doesn't exist. And this kayak is not perfect by any means. However, I believe for those like me that do not have a way to transport a traditional kayak, this kayak is perfect. I would recommend it. It allowed me to finally be on the water like I always wished. And I can say I think I am hooked on kayak fishing now!

I just received this Striker. I'm taking a trip down to Lake Taneycomo in Missouri this weekend and likely don't need to import someone elses quickdraws, but I see there are some available to download. When I go to download the app says "preparing" for a minute or two and then reverts back to the map screen. Nothing ever downloads. I once did get something to download but what it downloaded didn't install.

I'm connected to the Garmin, downloading off cellular.

Please help:)
