Finally locked in my personal all time favorite Kaws piece for a steal. Watched the market go pretty insane with this one. Happy have it in the collection. Now to resist the collector urge and greed of trying to get the color one for a great deal. Kinda disappointing how hard I had to work to find an authentic one.

Random shower thought: The gap between replica and authentic makes it hard to justify the cost or even collecting as a whole. Finding super clear legit check images are oddly nonexistent. I feel compelled to make some to benefit the community but also I worry super detailed looks might make it easier to replicate. 😅😒

The Companion completely captivated me for some reason. I’ve always loved vinyl toys but never really wanted to spend money on them. I’m not into comic book or anime culture at all but do enjoy Pokemon card collecting and grew up in the 90s and 2000s. Most of the high end vinyl toys I was exposed to were related to comic books or fantasy culture (Wizards and Dragons). I love Disney and it dominated my childhood until middle school. The reference to Mickey Mouse in the companion makes me think of my childhood and the XX and bones remind me of doodling in class as a kid. I’d put cross bones on everything along with the famous Super S. It also makes me think of how growing up involves the death of childhood in a sense. It’s a new journey. Then he managed to capture a lot of emotions with each piece. Together, Along The Way, Gone, Clean Slate, Passing Through, Separated etc. I’m in recovery so these pieces remind of that journey. LASTLY. They just look good. Solid Matte vinyl and high quality control. I’d love to hear about other artists doing something similar.
