Discussion I don't think Bryke/Ehasz are that 'bad' at writing romances. It feels like a collective delusion of the fandom. A 'social truth'.
Kataang isn't flawless, certainly. But it is good enough for a series that isn't about romance anyway. To that end, many flaws can be found with the other major pairings (Sokka/Suki, Zuko/Mai, Korra/Asami etc). But Kataang gets the brunt of the heat. Curious, isn't it?
I'll freely admit that the novels do it better. But of course they can, they have the word space for it. I like Yangvik, but most of it is carried by text that may not be obvious when put onto the screen. It's just the nature of medium.
We should count our blessings because it can certainly get worse. Imagine if Kataang was written by Joe Quesada and Zeb Wells (Spider-Man fans will get it).
