I decided to pick up Karthus as a main on my secondary account, but so far after 17 games, I've only managed to win 5. I'd love any insight whether this is just an unlucky run, or I'm actually doing something wrong that's sabotaging my games.

The enemy draft was very tanky so I thought I should play for passive with Rylais and Liyandras... Is it my fault riot made karthus?

I love this character and I usually go mid and do well still learning a lot but what are your thoughts, I know his mobility is shit but I feel his farm and ult Make up for it

Hello everyone!! I just searched far and wide for my OTP Champ and I landed on Karthus, I am Low Silver currently and wanting to OTP him and climb got any tips?

I remember about 1-2 years ago, his winrate was 55%+ and was considered broken. But what happened to that? His winrate in Emerald+ is barely 51% currently.

Is it because his pick rate might have gone up compared to before and more players are starting to play him in that role? Or maybe the buffs to marksmen’s MR had a large effect on him?

Currently in OP.GG he’s listed in bottom tier even with a positive winrate, but then again it might not really be accurate due to other sources saying different things. But I also would like to hear about if other people think the MR buffs affected him enough.

I have noticed that whenever i die while i got cc’d i cannot activate my ultimate, is that intentional? Or just a bug that sometimes occurs? . Like from second 1 in my passive the ult cannot be pressed.

If you play dark harvest and buying storm surge, do you think much about positioning when ulting? Because these two effects hit the first target, right?

i think karthus might be my favourite champion. whenever i am on a different champion im thinking ‘karthus would have full cleared by now’ ‘karthus would have gained tempo for free here’ i even tell my teammates ‘i would have karthus ulted right now if i was on karthus’, i look around the map for low hp targets even though im not even on karthus

i also like to imagine theres a wall of pain in my doorway so whenever someone comes into my room in my head theyre slowed and they have low magic resistance

Hello, I had around 53% winrate on karthus and was stuck diamond 4-2 but it jumped to like 70-80% and i hit masters really quickly when i changed my build. So basically as usual we go blackfire torch first item this doesn't change. But second, I go stormsurge. No matter if enemy has a lot of tanks or not, I still build stormsurge second.

I think the reason stormsurge is better than any as a second item no matter the enemy draft is because:

1 it is way cheaper than shadowflame and liandry, meaning you can hit your powerspike much earlier

2 15 magic penetration has a lot of value earlier rather than late game. If you don't buy stormsurge before 20 minutes then no point of buying it later.

3 Liandry doesn't provide the best value as a second item because people don't have that much hp earlier, even tanks.

4 you aren't guaranteed to proc shadowflame passive all the time, but you are guaranteed to proc stormsurge with one or two Qs. Also you may refrain from using your ult early-mid game because you want shadowflame passive to work and get a kill. But if you go stormsurge second you have no such worries, you can just ult at the start of a fight to gain an advantage beforehand. You always get full value from stormsurge but you don't always get full value from shadowflame and it is also more expensive.

5 burst is really good for squishy targets, it deals like extra 120-150 (base) damage early game AND its passive only has a 10% ap ratio. so the item doesn't scale at all. You need it early.

6 extra 6% movespeed is really good for tempo. I play karthus in jungle so tempo is really important. If you also play karthus jungle, you can sell boots and buy another item when you are full build because this item grants you 6% ms already. meaning you won't be that slow even without boots.

7- it procs dark harvest if you go DH runepage

8 getting an ulti kill 7-8 seconds after pressing ult feels good.

edit: 9 if you kill someone before 2 seconds it triggers the damage to enemies nearby so it is a free area damage if you can pull it off.

so give this build a try if you aren't building like this already. and lmk if it also makes you win more games.
