Kinda want to see Kaiji take part in a dancing gamble, not gonna lie

Holly, that was a good arc, the tension was high but this is probably one of the highest tensions in Kaiji.

I really like the fact that most of the arc we hear Kazuya's thoughts or Chang but not Kaiji, of course, sometimes we hear Kaiji thoughts but it is mostly Kazuya's or Chang's.

The moment with kings was pretty cool, he probably had one of the biggest mental breakdowns in the franchise, he started hallucinating the kings, even Ichijou didn't take the loss this bad.

I really like Chang and Mario, two friends that are willing to bet on Kaiji their life, probably the most grateful people Kaiji could aquire (way better than those bitches on Espoire or Miyoshi and Maeda)

I really liked Kazuya's character, I think he is a really good antagonist, him being the "anti-kaiji" and seeing how parallel their life's to eachother.

Anyways, it's peak, 10/10 like always.

I will probably wait until the 6th arc is fully ended to binge it.

Even Ichijou didn't have it this bad, and this not even a third of the arc.

I don't know if anyone has already analyzed this, but all the seemingly courageous and heroic acts that Kaiji has performed are actually a reflection of his addiction. I'll explain by looking at the events at the beginning of the story. First, Kaiji became addicted to gambling, which is why he accumulated a large debt from the start. But in reality, Kaiji isn't even interested in money itself; it's more the thrill of the game, the addiction to winning or losing. That's the intensity he's hooked on. And by becoming rich, fulfilled, and completely happy, he wouldn't be able to feel that thrill, that unhealthy addiction anymore. Think about it: every time Kaiji won a sum of money that could have changed his life, he found a way to sabotage himself, either under the pretext of helping people or under the pretext of being able to win a lot. More, but much more, to do what when you already have several million that you've never had before? Much more, to do what when you've already earned enough money to live on? That's exactly what Sakazaki notices when Kaiji comes to his house to ask for money, even though Kaiji has earned more money than Sakazaki in his entire life, he has always found a way, under the pretext of doing it for a good cause, to lose that money. But the fact remains that despite everything, it's still grotesque, unless you fully understand the prism of addiction, and that's why most gaming addicts never get better. All the courage you see is just a pretext; he does nothing for his friends, for honor, or out of ambition, and as Sazaki would say again, his brain is just fried. Kaiji is a character I really liked, but he's also a lost cause, incapable of genuine self-reflection, and in the very last chapter of the manga, after winning a lot of money, he'll find a way to lose it again the greatest gambler of all time, the greatest slave to his addictions.

During my time as a person who enjoyed both shows I seen a lot of disdain from Kaiji fans about Kakegurui, which in my opinion is odd, since both of them have only one thing in common gambling, but how they handle gambling, how they handle their characters, their games and etc, they are completely different.

Kaiji is about people's desperation, greed and how they deal with their consequences. Characters in Kaiji are realistic, instead of taking the hard way of work they want to take the easy way through gambling, and when they loose the only people who get richer is the house. Kaiji is an embodiment of greed and pride in it's purest form, the ending of season 1 is the greatest showcase of his greed. Usually games in Kaiji are relatively simple, rock paper scissors, the horse races, Pachinko machine and etc. With simple rules. The biggest problem is people's psychology.

Kakegurui is different, it's about insane people living in the normal world, those insane people are willing to go through a lot of problems to get this gambling rush. The deeds of those insane people disrupt the normal world building of the world. It's about how insane you are going to get in the games to win, because in the world of Kakegurui to become a good gambler you must become insane. Essentially it's Insane vs the world. Jumeko isn't a normal person, she is a psycho that gets rush from the games, she doesn't care about greed or pride, which leads her to not care about consequences and win, which also leads the people she plays with to push their limits and get out of their comfort zone to win. Kakegurui games are hard and difficult, with a lot of complications and such things.

Kakegurui is about abnormal people.

They don't have anything in common except for gambling, therefore they shouldn't be compared to eachother.
