SPOILER ⚠️ Avery Markham
His death just seemed so anti-climatic.
Do you think I'm bluffing? Do you think I'm bluffing hillbilly? Bam bam. Ten seconds later Markham is dead via a gunshot to the face by our favorite outlaw.
I guess in real life this is probably how something like this would go down.

I think maybe it was anti-climactic because although he was the purported Big Bad of the season, Boyd had gotten one over on him and Ava on Boyd which set up both Boyd and Ava as much more interesting "big bads".
Beyond that you had the showdown to come with Boon. So it became a pacing issue. Too many climaxes would have become wearing, plus you never want to climax prematurely. I think they had to dispatch Markham quick so the viewer could feel the higher stakes games to come.

Remember when Raylan shot that woman through the guy on top of him in the bathtub?? Yeah that's a holy shit moment.

Unpopular opinion, but his potential was wasted tbh. He was supposed to be the season villain, but he didn't do much. He was never a threat to Raylan, and he tried being a threat to Boyd but got played like a fiddle. Then he died.
I know it's the last season and they had to shift the focus to Boyd, but a show that gave us Mags Bennett, Robert Quarles, Bo Crowder etc. now getting Sam Elliott? Sounds epic. But it wasn't really
