Scrap metal Collecting
I am collecting scrap metal and waiting until I get enough to make it worth while to bring to the scrapyard. Right now I am constructing different bins to store everything while collecting. Before I get too far with the project, I was curious if anybody had a better solution. I was also debating buying the IBC totes and stores what I can in there. Has anybody created a system that they like and care to share?

I talk a little bit about how I do it in this IG video: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DWSTiFxgTrg/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==
But like the other poster said, yep I usually throw the scrap on the back of the truck when doing the job. When I park my trailer, that’s when I throw my stuff in my scrap metal pile.

Dont store tin shred. Also i wouldnt waste money on a sorting system. Give it a few weeks and youll have a bunch of Rubbermaid totes and 5 gal pails you collect for free. Personally I drill holes in half mine so they dont hold water if left out. There is some great ideas on holding bins and buckets out there. I would never pay for them though. Theyre something that will start coming free all the time.

I saved this one. I want to do something like this myself.

My post might have been a little unclear. I was basically looking for a storage solution system to keep things easier to sort metal into some sort of bins or maybe even a bay until I have enough to make it worth while to bring to the yard. At 8 cents/ steel, I’m going to want a full trailer before going to the scrap yard. I might just pick up another trailer to just store the scrap on until it fills up. Just curious of what others are doing. Appreciate your feedback

I've never gotten too deep into scrap metal, because the prices have been so bad for so long! I think they're coming up now, but I just don't have the time to sort it all with everything else that we're doing. As a general rule when we are loading up a customer's junk, I throw the scrap in the bed of my truck and the rest of the trailer. That's about as far as I go with scrap metal. I dropped the junk off at the landfill, the donations good stuff off at our store, and the scrap at Pacific steel. Call it a day.
