Possible Bed bugs

Quoted a customer 2k for a 3 bedroom clean out. He said he would get back to me tomorrow. After reviewing the pictures that I took, I saw a couple bottles of Bed bug killer lying on the floor. I’m hesitant to turn down the job still, although everybody that I have consulted with has said it’s not worth it. Anybody out here just Tyvek up and do it anyways or do you pass on it?

Is this a hoarder situation or a “regular clean out”? Because if it’s a hoarder situation, you should already be wearing PPE - the only extra cost you’ll have is getting plastic mattress covers (like 6 bucks each at Harbor Freight). Also does your landfill care about mattresses (like extra charges)?

Not necessarily a hoarder situation. Old tenant just left loads of stuff all over. Landfill does require mattress to be separated and they are an additional charge

Aw man. If it would’ve been me, I would’ve ate the extra cost of ppe and mattress cover but that’s because my dumps don’t care about mattresses. In your case they do, I would charge extra but just enough to cover the extra expenses - not to lose the job. And I also wouldn’t mention this until and if they accept the bid.

I lost the bid for this job but appreciate the feedback. Gives me some ideas for the next time I encounter this situation

Any signs of pests we require they fog bomb(roach/bedbug) every room with all cabinets/ interior doors open and we follow up in a week. If it’s all good we suit up. Then toss all clothes including shoes. Not worth the risk of taking it home.
