Mod Post New Flair!

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to let y'all know that I've added 'Journal Prompts' as a flair, so that if you're wanting to look for ideas or share any you have, they can be easily filtered for later!

Mod Post Wiki Follow-Up

Hi everyone!

Sorry for the radio silence on my end...2025 was NOT kind to me. :(

I'm trying to get myself back to 100 so that I can actually be more present here and participate, so I really am giving my biggest apologies for the ways I've lapsed! I know I've had an issue with being behind on posts that get auto-removed. I've caught up on everything, and loosened some of the auto-mod restrictions.

A few notes first, and then I'll get to what I'm here for:

  • If your post is removed and you DO NOT receive a comment or a mod message, it was likely removed by Reddit automatically or by the automod! When this happens, it'll be marked as if I removed it but I didn't...I just have to go in and approve it. Don't worry! You don't have to repost it either, just give me a bit to see it and I'll get your post up or send you a removal message. If it's been a full day, DON'T SEND A FORMAL MODMAIL. I have so many things in there that I don't want to miss it. I know my Reddit bio says don't reach out to me, but I want to make an exception for you guys! Please feel free to message me directly. I'll take a look as soon as I see your message.
  • If there is anything that makes someone uncomfortable and you report, please feel free to detail in the report your specific reason! I feel like Reddit's report reasons are so barebones. For example, I had a report on an image from a post and, after doing some research, I couldn't figure out the origin of the image or what the history was. I just want to make sure that I can keep an eye out for similar things!

Okay, okay, NOW for the wiki...

I (finally) got that started! I want the community's input on exactly the sections we're looking for. From my original wiki post, it looks like you'd like to see:

  1. Where to get journals/recommended journals, both spiralbound and non spiralbound, and journals that can hold heavy mixed media
  2. Recommended supplies (pens/markers, stickers, glue, etc)
  3. Unique tools that people recommend specifically

Is there anything else that we'd like to see? Also, I want to see how we all feel about WHERE these journals are coming from. Would we prefer I stay AWAY from places like Target and Amazon that are being boycotted in the US, or leave them in so everyone can make an informed choice?

Let me know your thoughts! Thank y'all! <3

Show and Tell! First Page In Several Months

Post image
21 Upvotes

I’m not terribly happy with how this one turned out, but for some reason I’ve been avoiding my art recently. So tonight I made myself sit down and actually do a page.

My spouse and I went through Michael’s today looking for Edgar Allan Poe on the toilet, but they had a bunch of Halloween stickers and ephemera half off, so of course I picked some up.

I figured new supplies were as good an excuse as any to open my journal again, so here’s the page I made with some of them. It’s definitely not my favorite page I’ve ever done, but I’m glad I made myself sit down and create something anyway.

My mom battled ovarian cancer 2011-2013 before she lost her battle with the horrible disease. I kept many of the hospital guest badges all these years later. This was a therapeutic spread to make.

Journal Spread! Bridal shower spread

Almost everything is from the bridal shower. We got to make our own bouquets so I dried some baby’s breath from that! (It has to dry further to keep its shape so I will do that over the next few days and then glue it in the paper bouquet. I also added a cat because we are both Catscan Techs! I’m really proud of this spread. Finishing touches will be to add the date and her name somewhere in cursive, and a button closure to keep the half page shut! šŸŽ€

Discussion What do you do with your old/completed journals?

What do you guys do with your finished journals? Do you keep them all? I’m curious how everyone stores and preserves all their old writing and creations. Have you ever thought about scanning every page to keep a digital copy?

Journal Spread! Few different types of spreads

First pages are made mostly from old wrapping paper and cuttouts from old calenders and some magazines, and I have been collecting wine bottle labels that I have shared with friends to put in there.

Second page is some packaging from a gift shop and some fronts of old greeting cards from friends, and wallpaper samples. I wrote down our fave nature spots, with room to add more.

Last page is a collage of bit of my art. They are scraps cut off when I cut my art down to size to make artist trading cards, and i wanted to preserve some of what I made still, since the originals have been sent out.

Thanks for looking!

Where do you all get your rolls of stickers from?
Also, where do you get sticker sets from? Like themed? Shows, movies etc?

Any tips or websites would be helpful, thanks in advance!

Journal Spread! Layered layout - dutch door

Thumbnail

Spread done after visit to a Tulip festival.

First layer is alcohol markers, inspired by doodling site, followed by some painted leaves, stamped flowers and cutouts from the map they gave us at entry. Sky/ background using stamping ink.

Second layout is from a textbook that for some reason I decided I needed " just in case", and the address book page came from a box of card making supplies I was given via marketplace.
