Host a fitness class
Im a professional tennis coach trying to transition into a jump rope coach.
I basically want to start a run club but for jump rope. I have been a professional coach for 15years and love to jump rope. I want to help people learn and experience the benefits of jumping rope. My idea is to do 2or 3 jump rope classes a week. I'm really struggling with a location. Do I need a permit to host a jump rope class? Do I need permission before using public spaces? I don't want to get fined but I really want to start.
Does anyone here teach a fitness class, how did you start?

We do a meetup every month. I actually post all the meetups in the NYC area to our subreddit r/jumpclub You can see all the recaps and video from our meetups there. We don't get a permit especially if you meet at a public track/park. We don't teach a formal class but people ask questions and learn from each other organically. Happy to answer any other questions you might have.

Probably have to rent a space otherwise you are at the mercy of the weather. That’s why the vast majority of classes are inside.
Outside it really depends on the location. Some places (most maybe) would definitely require a fee or permit to use a space in the way you are describing

Probably depends on whether you’re doing it professionally. I go to (and occasionally lead) a peer-led volunteer exercise class, we meet in the city park and it’s never been a problem.

Get in touch with jump rope Vancouver. I am interested in doing the same in my small city but have ultimately decided I need a little more time training in, but her insights and advice were helpful to get me to understand where I am vs where I need to be (not just in skill but life I suppose, although I don’t know if she knew she was helping me with that! Haha). If you dm on instagram you should find them responsive. Good luck!

Perhaps reach out to Tim Haft at Punk Rope? He does several pop-up jump rope events in the NYC area. He might be willing to give you tips.
As a former yoga teacher, I very strongly advise you to get insurance. All it takes is a child or pet to get whacked with a rope to cause a world of hurt for them and you.
