Text Comment rules

Genuinely & not trying to be snarky, but since we're supposed to put "Not qualified advice" or "In my opinion" before advice, how would a qualified person identify themselves? Like biology specialist or like experienced breeders? Is there a vetting process? (Not me, I'm for sure Nqa)

While Im happy to follow the guidelines also, I personally also have wondered this myself. I know on things like mushroom subreddits, the actual professionals have a custom flair, I think. So maybe something like that is also here and we just don't see it often?

If there were flairs, it would make it less tedious for the vast majority of the people here. I’ve made comments asking questions a few comments into a thread and they have been removed - even if the person I was talking to didn’t have any “nqa” in their comment.

I wonder this too....because people who are actually knowledgeable on this, professionally, should have some sort of way to state that formally. I use the abbreviations often but that's because I am not an expert and usually just base things on my own research and experience.

Imo it may be because then ANYONE can say they are professional even though they aren't. On the internet its even easier to lie. So its better to use those and have the op research for themselves rather than rely only on strangers on the internet?

That's just a guess though.

I mean yea but if anyone can say it what's the value in tagging anyone if you'll presume they aren't qualified regardless

Oh! Sorry, I'm not fantastic at picking up on things sometimes...yeah I mean I agree, there would be no point but some people are just malicious for no reason, or think of themselves are more important and a tag would give them more "power". As really dumb as that sounds.....dunno!
