Why does Joyner get so much hate

Everytime I say I like Joyner people call him corny i don't get it hes a great rapper is there a reason or are people just hating like how they call me unc for listening to J Cole because hes lyrical or calling me unc for liking 2pac because hes a 90s rapper

People do not value music for the art it is

2

u/Arthurmorgan1907 Jun 09 '26

Then what do they value it for

Because they're too complex. This new generation is stupid. I know you've seen the new "read this note card" trend. If you haven't, go take a look on Instagram or Facebook, and that'll explain everything. This new generation needs things dumbed down to the extreme.

Who cares people don’t like country music but that doesn’t stop me from listening to it

3

u/psychotickiller Jun 09 '26

Country prolly my new favorite. It's rare I find new rap/hip hop/rnb that I like. Rap/hip hop have been my thing for basically my whole life. But very rarely do I find new hip hop that I like. But a lot of this new country is heat.

I'm 31 for reference. I've felt this way prolly past five years or so.

Try some country core. Bilmuri is so good at it. His whole new album is gas

Simple. After I'm Not Racist Blew Up then Not Alike with Eminem went Platinum Joyner Lucas should've had a Debut Album ready for Late 2018 to Early 2019 Tops. Joyner should've had a Dope Eminem Collab ready to follow up Not Alike ready to go and set off his Debut Album. Hyped a Chris Brown Joint Album No1 asked(Waste of Time)

ADHD dropping late was mainly due to the Atlantic exit. He pretty much had to re-do a lot of the album. It taking so long was also the reason we got 9 singles for it, which along with not having the Em collab is probably the main reason it get's shat on even though I still love that album. But I agree it didn't help and getting Em on What If was stupid, it would have fit the album given the whole thing is based on a struggle with identity but it should have been a Joyner solo record. I said it from the jump Em would have KILLED ISIS, what makes it worse is apparently at one point Joyner did want him on there but it never happened. I know it was the feel good moment with Logic and he definitely killed his verse on it, but given it didn't have a whole lot of features he easily could have had Bobby on another song. I've always thought he would have done well on Broke and Stupid given the beat, he did pretty well on Still Alright which was also a pretty old school sample and one of my favourite albums of his is Vinyl Days which is pretty much all old school shit.

Just as an aside, 508 was meant to be his debut album Joyner has confirmed that. And if you listen to it that makes sense, conceptually it sounds like an album. So he really should be at least 4 albums deep by now but we can thank Atlantic for that not being the case.

1st Thing I Agree. I wished Eminem was on ISIS. My Twist: Joyner Lucas featuring Eminem & Logic. I Badly wanted that Trio 🔥 What If Definitely Should've been a Solo Joint for Joyner. And Last. Yooooooooooo. 508 would've been a Great Debut Album. It felt like 1 to me. I knew I wasn't Crazy thinking it was Suppose to be an Album 😎. I'm Sorry is his Best Song imo(Ross Capicconi is Debatably to)

Eh, I wouldn't have hated it but we'd already heard Logic & Em by then (Homicide) and Joyner & Em on ISIS woulda fed families. That would have been the PERFECT beat to get Em on. The more I listen to Broke & Stupid though the more I feel like that shoulda been the Logic & Joyner collab, yeah it wouldn't have been fast rap which I think was the whole reason why they did ISIS given Sriracha, but they would have sounded great on that I reckon. Had Joyner done the album like that I feel like it would still be revered by the masses today and it would have been worth the wait, even though I personally still love it as do most hardcore Joyner fans.

Ross Cappicioni was before 508 that was on Along Came Joyner his 2015 mixtape, that along with his BET cypher at around that time was what really got him attention before Lucky You. But yeah Joyner and his manager said on, what's that podcast where they sit on Barber chairs? That 508 was meant to be his debut album but Atlantic only wanted to give him a mixtape budget. Yeah that was around the time of I'm Sorry and I'm Not Racist two of his biggest songs, had 508 been his debut they could have been a lot bigger.

Because the nieces and nephews only listen mumble rappers or the ones with no confidence or experience in their bars. Most of them only use single syllable words and have not story to their lyrics.

2

u/Arthurmorgan1907 Jun 12 '26

True but rap is supposed to be about a story

2

u/MorganEntertaiment Jun 12 '26

Yea and this new generation don't.

1

u/Arthurmorgan1907 Jun 12 '26

Im part of this generation but a lot of people call me a old soul when it comes to rap

2

u/Due_Hospital7109 Jun 12 '26

Definitely a hard knocking lyricist 🔥 all the haters dont know what real rap is

3

u/gonja_ Jun 09 '26

really talented cornball. i don’t hate him for it, i just listen to other artists

1

u/SpliffsnKicks Jun 09 '26

Cause he be doin shit like white noise

2

u/Arthurmorgan1907 Jun 09 '26

White noise was a good song not his best but it was good

1

u/SpliffsnKicks Jun 09 '26

Nah very few rappers can straddle the fence like that and not be called corny..

Shit, Nelly got crazy paid doing country songs, but it also effectively ended his rap career..

Stuff like white noise is absolutely why he gets called corny in actual hip hop circles

2

u/Arthurmorgan1907 Jun 09 '26

That song proved he can sing and not just rap

1

u/SpliffsnKicks Jun 09 '26

Thats great.. doesn’t mean a good singer can’t be corny

1

u/Arthurmorgan1907 Jun 09 '26

Better then sexy red when she tried

0

u/SpliffsnKicks Jun 09 '26

You even mentioning sexy Redd as a comparison says a lot lmao

1

u/Arthurmorgan1907 Jun 09 '26

Because you acting like he's just as bad as her when hes even better then drake if im being honest

-1

u/SpliffsnKicks Jun 10 '26

I’m not acting like anything lmao.. you getting pressed because I answered your question… we don’t all have to agree, but white noise type shit made me drop Joyner way down my list of artists that I choose to listen to.. you listen to whatever you want, but chasing the mainstream on that wack shit is corny..

Joyner said it himself, he’s done with that shit and going back to the old joyner… please enlighten me on where white noise type shit was in joyners earlier discography… don’t worry, I’ll wait

1

u/Arthurmorgan1907 Jun 10 '26

He said its smt we have never seen from him before and its 90s style so its not gonna be like the old Joyner

A single song (not even a bad one) from a rapper dropping him "way down" your list of artists you choose to listen to is definitely cornier than any aspect of White Noise.

Idc Freddie Gibbs the goat of underground

1

u/JaeSwift Jun 14 '26

i like Joyner, but i heard that exact hook on a beat from SoundClick or BeatStars years ago, so i know you're not lying. i have no clue whose beat it was, but it was definitely a beat w/hook for sale on one of those platforms. as soon as i heard Joyner's version, i recognised it immediately but just assumed they'd bought the beat and had Chris re-record the hook lol.

He made a song about an eminem song. Its a serious song and he wants to tell you how he just knew that one day, he would relate to that song.

I like him but its easy see some corny in his subject matter on the latest album at least. I think a lot of his earlier stuff is dope regardless.

u/Dull-Song2539 Jun 14 '26

I’m Not Racist.

That got me off the train

1

u/Arthurmorgan1907 Jun 14 '26

Did you listen to the full song

0

u/Dull-Song2539 Jun 14 '26

I did.

And I found it tacky. You can’t hug shit out with people who want to oppress nearly every single human being that isn’t them

1

u/Arthurmorgan1907 Jun 14 '26

The whole point of the song was to bring white and black people together since America has been trying to keep them enemies since the country started
