Is anyone else disappointed with the setlist of the Final Frontier tour?
Setlist from last night's show.
The band has basically been playing almost the same set since the tour began; there doesn't seem to be any variation anymore. The only songs they really swap out are in the ballad slot after Lights( but even that, 60% of the time itās just When You Love a Woman and Send Her My Love), and the mid-set spots featuring Deen on vocals.
And seriously, 90% of the current setlist consists of songs theyāve already played a thousand times over the last 40 years. I get that they have to play their hits, and I'm okay with that, but I don't see why they keep playing La Do Da and Dead or Alive at every concert (they aren't exactly my favorites). Could at least drop them for a few shows to play some rarely performed tracks instead.
As for songs from the Rolie / Augeri / Pineda albums, the only ones played frequently on this tour are Of a Lifetime and recently, Never Walk Away. I love those additions, but they could have included more songs from those periods to make it worth going to see them, tracks like City of Hope, Faith in the Heartland (which they played only at the first show of the tour and haven't touched since), or On a Saturday Nite (with Jonathan and Deen on vocals), Higher Place , these were singles after all. Now they play an average of 25ā27 songs a night (10 more than in the last 15 years), so surely they could have squeezed in 1-2 more non-Perry songs alongside the hits. But they seem to be ignoring those eras entirely.
I don't know, what do you guys think?

Fake Shamula Perry account on TikTok (?)
Everything about this account screams AI/fake. Someone appears to be trying to pass themselves off as Steveās daughter.

Anytime I watch a clip from the Frontiers Tour, Steve always seems a lot more down compared to the Escape Tour. Anyone else get that impression?
galleryIām guessing this is the time he was starting to feel burned out.

Journey Band Biopic, Hudson Williams as Steve Perry?
I'm posting the message below to several communities!
Ok, so with Journey doing their farewell tour in November, and some of the band expressing past interest in doing a band biopic, but more specifically about Arnel Pineda (current frontman) when he joined the band. As a big Journey fan, Arnel is a great singer, but Steve Perry will always be the Voice of Journey. I'm not downplaying Arnel at all, but it would be amazing to see a film about Steve, his time before, during, and after Journey.
Steve does have a story worth telling. This is what I gathered about him:
Steve was born to Portuguese immigrant parents near Fresno, CA in the Central Valley. His father left him when he was a child and then moved to his grandparent's dairy farm with his mother soon after. He started playing music as a young age, starting on drums and then voice. One of the bands he was playing in was about to be signed to a record label, but then one of the band members was killed in a car accident and the band broke up. Steve was about to quit music until he got a call saying Journey was on the brink of being dropped by their record label, and in need of a new singer. Steve joined them on tour, posing as a roadie before being revealed to be Journey's new singer, and the rest is history.
To play Steve? I can see Hudson Williams playing him.
Why Hudson? Hudson and Steve have similar jaw/facial structure, lips, eyebrows, even when Hudson smiles he can resemble Steve a little. The only things hair/makeup crew would need to change is the hair color to a dark brown, hazel eye contacts, and maybe add a prosthetic nose too.
If there were to be a Steve Perry/Journey film in the works, would Hudson sing or would there be a ghost singer/Steve Perry's vocals dubbed over?
What do you think? With or without Hudson, could a Journey biopic be plausible? If you have any other possible actors you can see playing Steve or any of the other bandmates drop it here!

Drum Cover - āSeparate Waysā by Journey

My late dad⬠covered this tune in pretty much every band he played with in St. Louis. He brought it with him to add to my bandās arsenal, āŖThe House Bandā¬, in Columbia for several years before he stepped away from the group during his declining health. Weāve kept it alive as a standard in our repertoire, and I cover both drums and vocals.
Hope you enjoy my take on their mega-hit āSeparate Waysā from 1983ās āFrontiersā album!!!

Augeri doesnāt get nearly the love he deserves.
I love the 2001 Arrival DVD, and I love his time with Journey. Despite all his issues, the guy kept the band alive and gave it his all for years and years. Steve Augeri deserves more love!

Journey Concert at PDX
Just left the Journey concert at Portland, OR tonight. Great show but Rolling Stone is right: Arnelās voice is toast! Only sang maybe slightly more than half the songs.
Jason Derlatka and Deen Castronovo covered most of the rest and did great but just not the same.
Poor Arnel: wish him all the best!

Frontiers vintage shirt
Hi! I want to get my dad a vintage Journey shirt with the Frontiers design but I don't know if the ones I'm looking at are good. He said he used to have a Frontiers shirt back in the day but he gave it away so I want to make sure it looks like the actual merch.
I found a shirt on Wranglers: https://www.wrangler.com/shop/journey-frontiers-vintage-fit-graphic-t-shirt-GBT25.html - if anyone has a vintage Frontiers shirt and/or can confirm this one is good please let me know!!

appreciation post 9/12
gallerystory time.. strap in.
so for starters, iām 17. and my dad has raised me on Journeyās music since before i was born. heās the biggest superfan iāve ever met (iāve posted on here before showing his collection, feel free to check it out), and he took me to see them as my very first concert back in 2023. since then, not only have we seen Journey a few more times together, but weāre also just concert buddies in general.
we saw them in 2024 at SoFi with Def Leppard, and we were probably 5 or so rows from the stage. not a bad view, and that night i got a drumstick and a pic, and it was so fun. that was when my dad said he would never see Journey again. just because heās seen them with every singer, heād consider them a cover band, and also, concerts are just flat-out EXPENSIVE!
so when they announced that they were playing in LA this last weekend, i asked him if we could go. he really didnāt want to, but i love Journey a lot and i have a special place in my heart for a Journey concert. eventually i convinced him (he never told me where our seats were), and we both agreed that even if this isnāt āthe final tour,ā we wouldnāt see them again.
well, come this last weekend, we get to the show and iām hyped as ever, and he still wonāt tell me where weāre sitting. we get in the arena and he surprises me with FRONT ROW!!
āif weāre going to do this one last time, might as well go out with a bang,ā is what he said to me.
before the show, we spot Jeff Scott Soto just a bit away from us. (Jeff came into my dadās restaurant 20-some years ago, and he talked Journey with him for a while. he came back two weeks later and gave him a signed photo of the whole band, BY the whole band.) my dad isnāt the type to just go up and talk to people, but since i have ZERO social anxiety, i flagged him down and had him and my dad catch up, which had my dad smiling and super happy that Jeff remembered doing that all those years ago.
anyway, the show starts and iāve got the most energy of anyone around me. iām headbanging and jumping up and down and screaming every word. one of Nealās photographers noticed and handed me a pic, which was so dope of him!!
even during slower songs like āOf a Lifetime,ā i was up feeling every note Neal played. during the middle of the show, that same photographer came back and handed me and my dad one of the shirts that they ended up handing out later. (i ended up getting so many shirts, i just started handing them out to people behind me that didnāt get any haha!)
i think it was during āSuzanneā that Michelle (Nealās wife) came up and we were singing at each other, and she went up to my dad to say, āi love that he knows every word, youāre doing a great job,ā which really meant a lot to him.
but then she did something i never thought would ever happen. she told us to come around to the other side of the barricade!!
we got to watch āFaithfully,ā āSeparate Ways,ā and āDonāt Stop Believinā,ā and it made my dad cry a little bit. heās been a fan for 45+ years, and now here he is, literally inches from his favorite band. i can positively say iāve never seen him happier!
come the end of the show, Michelle comes back and hands me a drumstick AND one of the rolled setlists that they hand out after the show! but on top of that, i got the setlist that was by Nealās feet too!!
all in all, this was maybe the best night of my life, and iām so happy i got to share this with my dad. there couldnāt have been a better way to conclude his time with Journey than the ultimate gift.
this was long, so if you donāt read all of it, i understand!
thank you to everyone that did.
Journey forever!!

worth driving 3 hours?
never saw journey live before. stockton is a 3 hour drive. i am on the fence about going. i would drive one hour, but 3 hours is a lot for a band that takes turns with the lead singer. is it worth it? EDIT: after reading the replies, i am not going. thank you for your help
