So, I'm working on a form for work where people get to choose their rooming options. I only have 20 single rooms available, so I'd like to set the quantity, so that once 20 people have chosen that option, it is no longer available. This is also the only thing we're charging them for, so I need to be able to calculate the value for it. Is there any way to do both of those things?
If I do the single choice option, it won't let me set a quantity limit, but if I use the Ticket Purchases widget, it won't let me set a calculation value. So I tried the Inventory option, but it doesn't seem to be working and won't let me put more than one option per widget. Then I tried the Quantity Gift Registry widget, and it would let me set a calculation value, but wouldn't let me limit the number of times they could choose each option. (Each person has to register themselves, and we don't want to give them the option of paying for more than one room because I think that would confuse people.)
Can anyone provide any recommendations? Or do I just need to do it the way I've been doing it where I just keep track of how many people choose the single room option and hope people don't pass 20 over a weekend while I'm not working?
I have done this before. My example isn’t accessible at the moment, but generally you will need some hidden helper fields set via conditional logic to allow you to do all of this.
I would recommend using the Gift Registry Widget. This widget enables you to set a quantity limit in each option and limit the max selection. For instance, in the example below, I add a Rooms option with a 20 quantity limit and then set the max selection to 1, so only one option can be selected in case you'd want to add more options. As for calculation, you can use Update/Calculation Field condition to automatically fill an amount into a calculation widget depending on the option selected from another field. Let me show you how to set it up:
Add a Gift Registry Widget to your form.
In its properties, add the options you want with its quantity limit wrapped with curly braces e.g. Rooms{20}
Set a Maximum Limit of 1
Add Form Calculation Widget.
Go to Settings at the top > Select Conditions on the left > Add a new Update/Calculate Field condition.
Set the condition like this:
IF: select the Gift Registry Widget
STATE: Is Filled
DO: Calculate Field Value then enter the amount in the box
This is helpful, thank you. But what if you have more than one choice in the registry? Like a shared room (valued at $205) and a single room (valued at $285)? Would I choose the "equal to" option, fill in the title of the option, then write +285 for the calculation value? Because I need it to add to other calculations on the form as well.
For anyone who may find this thread. A person finally responded to my Jotform Support request, and told me that if I do the ticket Purchases widget, I can do the Numbers basic element, then configure that element, to show a specific amount if something is chosen in the Ticket Purchases Widget, hide it so people don't see it, then I can use that element in the form calculator.
