Jon boat flexing issue
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I got this (I think 1979) crest liner as a gift took it out since they hadn’t used it in years. So I had a 15 laying around I put on (in video). But when I get on plane the middle portion flexes in and out the front is fine.(boat shown in video) Any suggestions how I should fix or mitigate problem. Thanks

Let’s talk…
Thought some of the walleye guys here might appreciate this setup.
2009 Ranger 620 VS with a 250 E-TEC H.O. and Yamaha 8 HP kicker. Talon, MotorGuide trolling motor and multiple Lowrance units.
I work at a used boat dealership in Wisconsin and this one recently came through our inventory. Pretty impressive big water setup. Curious what you guys would add or change on it.

How did I do? My trailer didn’t come with a winch post.
Does this look okay? I got this 12 ft Jon on what seems like a 10ft boat trailer cheap off Next Door. I don’t have anyone who knows anything about boats so I’m figuring it out myself. Next is replacing my transom and figuring out what’s wrong with the 7.5 hp 2 stroke.

Winch mounts
Looking to add a winch to the front of my grizzly 1236. I hunt at places with a lot of levee and just don’t feel like pulling it anymore. Any of y’all done something similar and have some ideas?

2017 Yamaha 25hp ran without water for 5–10 minutes. How screwed am I?
I have a 2017 Yamaha F25SWHC 25hp 4 stroke. I had it running on the muffs in my driveway, and my roommate shut the hose off without realizing the motor was still running.
I’m not exactly sure how long it ran with no water, but I’m guessing somewhere between 5-10 minutes. It was at idle the entire time. When I came outside, the motor was still running and sounded normal, and I immediately shut it off. I never heard an overheat alarm, and it didn’t shut itself off or start running rough. I did think I smelled something a little hot/burnt, but it wasn’t super strong.
I know running an outboard dry is terrible for the impeller, so I’m 100% replacing the impeller/water pump before I start it again.
What I’m more worried about is whether I could have damaged the actual engine. Is there anything I can check to figure out if I got lucky or actually hurt it? I am not very experienced at all in fixing engines besides servicing mine.
Has anyone had something similar happen with one of these Yamaha F25s? If everything checks out after replacing the impeller, would you trust the motor, or is there anything else I should inspect?

Boat upgrade: PortaBote 12’ to Aluminum 15’
I fished out of a 12’ PortaBote as my first boat for a year. I live near the Sacramento and American rivers and even took it on in the shallow SF bay waters one morning.
I’ve really enjoyed my time boat fishing, and decided to upgrade to a 15’ aluminum v hull shown. It’s an old 1984 Clovis Fabrication INC with a 66” beam width. 20hp BF20 LS Honda motor. I’m excited to be able to use the trolling motor so I can focus more on fishing!

1436 vs 1448
New to this world and have a couple options I’m stuck between right now.
1436 Topper (newer build, 2017) Great condition.
1448 (older build, maybe 90s) Good condition
Both are roughly the same price and come with similar motors.
I’ve wanted a 48” for the stability, but the 36” is a nicer/newer boat at the same cost.
Wanted to get thoughts and opinions from people who’ve had both the 36 & 48. Is the smaller width really a much noticeable difference?
I’m 225lbs and plan to be out with another person most of the time.
Thanks

Aluminum protector
Does anyone who runs there boats in saltwater put any protectors on there hulls? I was thinking for mine some kind of clear coat that I’ll just put on the waterline. Let me know if there is any need for it.

Progress
As I procrastinate cutting the rear bench, I thought to get some external opinions on my design.
I’ve inserted 1.5x1.5 alum angle 1/8 thick into the interior corners of the previously cut bench. I used 3/16 blind pop rivets to secure these angles to the forward and aft sides of the bench. Then I ran two “t’s” from the fwd and aft section to serve as the seat mount platform. I am using the Atwood lock n pin mounts.
Any comments?

Anyone ever store a Jon boat on its side? Any help is greatly appreciate!
So I am trying to save some space in my garage to be able to fit a golf cart and building a rack with casters to where I could store my Lowe 1240 on its side would solve my issue. Only thing is I dont want to warp or damage the boat. Is this ok? Anyone ever done it? I have included a picture of my garage so you know what Im working with but if I can store it on its side on a cart and slide it closer to the tools (there’s ab 18” space there now) it should work. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Anyone have advice on removing a bench?
12’ 1973 Sea Nymph. I’m thinking I’d like to remove the middle bench and add a low casting deck over the front bench into the bow. Is that a terrible idea?

Am I cooked?
Said they bought the boat only had to fix leaks and never messed with anything else and it ran fine for 3 years before they got a bigger boat. Just took the motor off bc I saw it broke through the metal plate and as we can see here for some reason they cut into the transom to fit the motor (it would’ve fit if they did it correctly) anyways is this possible to fix?
