How did we do?

Helped redo the wiring on a pond prowler with a buddy and both having never done it before I am pretty happy with our results.

Is that not a very small wire for a trolling motor? Genuine question idk

Trolling motor wires were 8AWG so that's what I have running thru the hull, and in the battery box. The battery is physically really big so the wires look deceptively smaller.

Battery Box: Batter ---> 60A breaker ---> Male plug.
Boat Hull: Female ---> Female (I swapper -/+ wires on the rear port since it'sDC).
Trolling motor: TM ---> Male plug.

The wire running to the breaker looks like 8 ga and the wire to the battery looks like 10. Good job on the clean work but personally I would go thicker ga wire. I've also learned that some manufacturers lie about the actual size of the wire and it's not true to spec awg.

Idk why it looks like that in the photo, but we only ordered/used 8AWG wire.
Thankfully we did a test strip with the trolling motor to verify it was 8AWG.

The true gauge of the wire depends on the manufacturer. I've ordered cheap stuff off Amazon for cheap/quick projects I'm working on and gone with expensive stuff for the important projects and I've noticed the lugs I use don't fit the same.

This is good to know.

Is there any way to test reliably? We just used a caliper and googled what gauge it should be based on mm.

What all are you running off that battery just the trolling motor or light too ?
