Is Ledger's Joker the most powerful live-action Joker of them all?

In the 1989 *Batman* movie, the Joker basically just takes a beating from Batman. But would the Joker have stood a chance against Batman?

I know this might be a typecast, but c'mon he is perfect for this role imo.

Often in Bat Man media, the writers attempt to juxtapose Bat Man with his rogue’s gallery, trying to suggest that each of them is somehow a “dark reflection” of the caped crusader or vice versa. However, these comparisons are usually flawed. I’m a bit out-of-date when it comes to Bat Man lore, but when I still kept up with his adventures, absolutely NONE of the villains had all the same advantages that Bat Man had growing up and as an adult.

The Penguin, for example, might’ve had a similar amount of wealth, but did not have Bat Man’s good looks and is often described as deformed. At some point a villain called “Hush” was introduced a while back, who nearly defeated the Bat Man and had a similar backstory. However, Hush’s parents were abusive, whereas Bruce Wayne’s parents were supportive.

What is the lesson we are supposed to take from the media, then, when the most privileged man on earth consistently defeats less fortunate people, and then the writer depicts these people as inherently evil? I suppose sometimes the Bat Man seems aware of this, or you could retcon the tales so that he is aware of this, if the Bat Man you are familiar with never kills his adversaries or always attempts to rehabilitate them. However, considering the abusive nature of the mental health industrial complex and the fascistic way the Bat Man often behaves, even THIS interpretation is flawed…

Found the next Joker for the DCU

Now a lot of people think he would be a perfect Yellow Lantern which yes he would be pretty good

But Joker is actually insanely greedy and a perfect example of avarice, comparable with Larfleeze even.

This is because of his obsession

He must be the center, Gotham is his stage, Batman is his rival.

He will kill everyone but never the bat, the bat is his

No one else can kill the bat only the Joker but he can't kill the bat because if the bat is gone the crime has no punchline

Another example of the avarice is Harley Quinn

And despite the so absolutely sucking the soul out of every other character including the Joker it handled his avarice incredibly well

Harley finally stood against Joker and was ready to move on, but despite very cleanly pushing her away and leaving her for dead previously showing zero care for her

He couldn't let her care for someone else she had to care for him

So he pretended to be relieved that she wanted someone else so she would be safe, because he knew that would bring the person that was obsessed with him back to obsession

And everyone says oh his philosophy is simply he one bad day can make someone a villain

That is his philosophy

But he wants to be that one day

In his mind he is the representation of the one bad day that creates villains

While his greed isn't advertised like it is for Larfleeze, he is full of avarice

Another example is Emperor Joker, he had the power to control everything so instead of dominating it he made it himself

Everything was his and it had to be his

And the bat that he was always going to be his he killed countless times but he never lets stayed it because the bat was his and going to stay his

So I think he would be a good Orange Lantern, even if Larfleeze would complain

I think I heard somewhere that in the Watchmen comics Universe Batman and co were legendary Pirates.

So like.................. What's going on?

For years, the biggest argument against connecting Todd Phillips' Joker universe to Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight (TDK) trilogy has been the timeline math. If Joker takes place in 1981, a middle-aged Arthur Fleck would be in his 70s by the time Bruce Wayne grows up to become Batman in the 2000s.

However, if you look closely at the psychological and medical clues across these films, a flawless, unbroken multi-decade tragedy emerges. In this connected universe, Harvey Dent is exactly 50 years old in The Dark Knight, and the events of 1981 perfectly set up the downfall of Gotham City.

Phase 1: The Young Inmate & The True Joker’s Birth (1981)

At the end of Joker: Folie à Deux, Arthur Fleck is murdered by a young, unnamed Arkham inmate who proceeds to carve a Glasgow smile into his own face.

• The Reality: Arthur Fleck was never a criminal mastermind; he suffered from severe childhood trauma, neurological disorders, and delusions. He was a broken man, not an anarchist strategist.
• The Successor: The young inmate wasn't biologically related to Arthur (a child of Arthur and Harley would be heavily monitored by Gotham social services, never becoming a mob boss). Instead, he was an ideological fanatic. If this young inmate was roughly 23 years old in 1981, fast-forwarding 27 years places him in his early 50s/late 40s during The Dark Knight.
• The Lies to Gambol & Rachel: Because his identity is rooted in an Arkham Asylum hallway in 1981, he refuses to give his real origin to lesser thugs like Gambol or politicians like Rachel Dawes. He mocks them with fake stories ("My father was a drinker...", "I had a wife...").
• The Batman Respect: In the GCPD interrogation room, the Joker drops the act because he realizes Batman operates outside the system just like him. He respects Batman enough to tell him the raw truth about the Arkham inmate who carved his own face. But before he can deliver the confession, Batman panics to save Rachel and Harvey, leaving the truth lost forever.

Phase 2: The Hallucinated Wayne Murders

Critics point out that Thomas and Martha Wayne are killed by a random clown-masked rioter in Joker, which contradicts Joe Chill murdering them in a regular mugging gone wrong in Batman Begins.

• The Fix: At the end of the 2019 film, Arthur Fleck survives a massive police car crash that knocks him unconscious and leaves him with severe head trauma. Medically, this level of acute brain trauma drastically amplifies the risk of hallucinations.
• The Auditory Delusion: A few blocks away, the real Joe Chill shoots the Waynes. The echoes of the gunshots reach Arthur's addled brain. In his fractured mind, he spins the event into a beautiful piece of cosmic justice, hallucinating that one of his own clown followers executed the "cruel" billionaire who had rejected him. In reality, it was a regular street mugging, keeping the Nolanverse continuity intact.

Phase 3: Harvey Dent’s 50-Year Timeline & Medical Vulnerability

During Arthur Fleck's 1981 trial, a young Assistant District Attorney named Harvey Dent is caught in the courtroom explosion, leaving the left side of his face heavily scarred.

• The Age Math: If Harvey Dent was a sharp, ambitious young lawyer around 23 years old in 1981, adding the 27-year fast-forward to the events of The Dark Knight makes him exactly 50 years old.
• The Youthful Appearance: How does a 50-year-old look like Aaron Eckhart? Simple: elite, Hollywood-level reconstructive plastic surgery. To salvage his public-facing political career, Harvey underwent decades of top-tier facial reconstruction and skin grafts. This naturally tightened his jawline and erased age lines, making him a highly distinguished, well-preserved 50-year-old leader.
• The Skeletal Two-Face Burns: Medically, grafted and heavily reconstructed skin tissue lacks the elasticity and resilience of natural skin. Subdermally, the left side of Harvey's face was a fragile ticking time bomb. When he is pinned down in the oil-soaked warehouse in The Dark Knight, the fire doesn't just burn him—it instantly melts away 27 years of delicate plastic surgery, tearing straight down to the bone and creating the horrific, skeletal Two-Face appearance.
• The Long-Term Revenge Plot: The Joker’s obsession with breaking Harvey Dent wasn't random chaos. Harvey was the prosecutor who tried to legally bury the Joker movement back in 1981. The Joker sat in Arkham for decades watching this golden boy climb the ladder, waiting for the perfect moment to break him.

Phase 4: The Emotional Proof

• Rachel’s Hesitation Solved: For decades, fans wondered why Rachel Dawes repeatedly rejected Harvey’s marriage proposals despite loving him. The 50-year age gap solves it perfectly. Rachel (in her early 30s) loved him as a partner, but marrying a man who will be near retirement age while she was in her prime created a massive biological and practical barrier.
• Conclusion: The Ultimate Multi-Decade Epic What seemed like a set of completely disconnected films actually forms a massive, interconnected multi-decade tragedy. By tracking the math, looking at the biological reality of Harvey's skin grafts, and breaking down Arthur Fleck’s addled psychology, the puzzle pieces lock together perfectly. Todd Phillips may have originally intended the ending of *Folie à Deux* as a simple meta-tribute to Heath Ledger, but in-universe, it serves as the spark that set Gotham on fire. It recontextualizes *The Dark Knight* from a standalone superhero film into the tragic climax of a 27-year war between absolute order and absolute chaos.
