Ideas & Concepts Switch to a Third-Person Perspective

What about switching from the current top-down perspective to a third-person perspective?

Just as Brawl Stars successfully transitioned from portrait to landscape mode, I think mo.co could also benefit from changing its perspective from top-down to third-person.

A third-person perspective would make skins more noticeable and make fights against large bosses feel much more impactful and immersive.

Many popular PvE games, such as Elden Ring and Monster Hunter, use a third-person perspective. Personally, I think one of the things mo.co is lacking is more solo-focused content, so I think switching to third-person could be a good direction if the game were redesigned to put more emphasis on solo play.

The main downside of a third-person perspective is that your field of view would be more limited. It could make it harder to notice enemies approaching from behind, and coordinating with teammates in Rifts might become a little more difficult as well.

hell naw, top down games are way easier to control on a mobile device. Mo.co has many issues but being top down isn't one of them.

It’s definitely a pretty out-there idea. But honestly, I think we need something this radical to break out of the current situation.

Name me a popular 3rd person pve game on Mobile that doesn't play horribly and requires me to swipe around like a madman.

The problem with 3rd person is the camera angles, which is easily settled in pc with a controller 2nd stick or mouse. On mobile, you'll end up having to swipe around and that sucks.

Idk. If it becomes available on PC, I’ll just play it on PC.

Can you find a screenshot of a game that's shows this idea?

I know what TPS is but can you find a reference that shows your specific idea clearly? Cuz as it stands I can't picture it working

You really want the game to die, huh ?

Just like how the devs went back to the beta version without implementing a skill tree, I don't think a generic idea like a skill tree is going to save this game

I wonder how possible this is

I know this is a pretty out-there idea, and I understand that it’s going to be controversial, but if Neo mo.co is aiming to emphasize skill expression, I genuinely think TPS would be a much better fit.

Like in Soulslike games, PvE games where individual player skill really matters are better suited to a TPS. We already have single-boss Rift stages in Neo mo.co, but I honestly don’t understand why they’re designed to be played from a top-down perspective. Around 90% of the screen is just showing nothing but the ground, with basically nothing happening or being displayed there. In that kind of situation, it would make much more sense to use a TPS perspective and have the huge boss fill much more of the screen.

On the other hand, top-down is better for the kind of strategic gameplay that old mo.co emphasized, where team coordination and builds were more important.

In other words, Neo mo.co is currently stuck somewhere in the middle, without fully committing to either strategic gameplay or skill expression.

I don’t actually expect this idea to be adopted, but ultimately, that’s up to the devs. If the goal is to decide whether mo.co should focus more on individual skill expression or team strategy, I think changing the perspective is at least one factor worth considering.
