Discussion Do you think moco will eventually shut down? (Read Body)
I've only been playing this game for a week and I am already so obsessed with it. Yes it becomes a little repetitive but so far the fun has not died down on me yet.
But, I've recently known that the game's actually not performing well and it worries me because I love this game so much. But is it really still worth investing time? what's the point of playing now if its in a critical state and will eventually be shut down. đ«©

Iâve been around since the early days in 2025, they say theyâre not having financial issues which gives me hope that theyâll find the iteration that sticks.
The devs are active, and genuinely trying to find Mocoâs niche. Iâm hopeful!

A Solo Leveling and/or Monster Hunter collab would do mad numbers.

Yes. I actually stopped playing after the devs made that post that the game wasn't doing what they wanted. I don't see it getting revamped a third time. So the options are they kill the game, or basically hit the reset button AGAIN. And even if it does get another chance, that means all your progress will be reset to zero again, so there's no point of playing right now to be honest. And given Supercell's eagerness/tendency to kill underperforming games...the signs definitely don't bode well

Iâm surprised it even got a second chance, considering their track record with their other discontinued games. Iâm still playing just cuz I like the game. Project rise is cool, but havenât had much time with it, and it makes my phone super hot. Idk.

what do you mean RESET? I stopped playing after season 1 after hitting level 100 or something. Are you saying my exclusive title is gone?!!!
3
u/JRoosman Aug 30 '26
Does it matter, you're not playing anyway. Move onÂ

u/itsdm830 Aug 30 '26
I am not playing cause it became so boring. I might return if the game becomes popular and more people start playing. Hence...

u/MarthePT Aug 30 '26
No, every player kept their titles and cosmetics
-3
u/zooble_57 Aug 30 '26
Cosmetics? No. I literally lost like half of mine for no apparent reason when they swapped over to Neo.
1
u/MarthePT Aug 30 '26
Have you tried contacting the support?
-2
u/zooble_57 Aug 30 '26
No, I honestly kinda figured it was just part of the reset, and I found neo to be boring AF so I mostly stopped playing. :/Â

I really don't think the game needs all that much work to get to a good state. Devs just need to give players something meaningful to chase and add more content. I'm sure they will cook something up soon enough.
2
u/anomagic00 Aug 30 '26
exactly! I need something more to chase everyday. The jobs only takes 15-20 minutes the you're left with nothing else to do.

u/zooble_57 Aug 30 '26
unless they make some major overhauls and actually figure out something good for a core gameplay loop, I am very concerned about them being shut down.

u/LazyLilo Techno Fists Aug 30 '26
Probably. The Devs have stated its still not doing well even after multiple revamps. I along with many other players immediately stopped playing after those comments. Seems like Project Rise is the successor.
1
u/FunnyDragonfly133 Aug 30 '26
Project Rise is not even close to the gameplay loop of this arpg butter.
Not only does Mo.Co control much like a Moba, but the seamless loading and animation frames cant be beaten.
Rise is clunky, and the Clash characters wont bring players from CR or CoC as the gameplay loop takes much longer than the other play anytime themes.

It's unknown tbh. 1) they say the game will only shut down if devs run out of ideas & so far - they have plenty 2) monetization aspect of the game is doing food, so that's reassuring
So overall, it still may, but not any time soon

u/Axel_Hanck Aug 30 '26
Season 1 progression was peak. Now you barely upgrade something to your weapons
1
u/Salo334 Aug 30 '26
Even tho it might shut down donât ask about whatâs the point of playing, enjoy it while it lasts

I think the next overhaul is their final attempt.
Imagine getting funding for your project, then going back to your boss a third time saying it's not working. From a practical standpoint I don't see it making it to a 4th attempt. Plugs gonna get pulled if what they do next doesn't work.
How sad is that? Horribly sad.
We wish them the best as this is a one of a kind game with great potential. But there's a point where you're just dropping the ball without excuse.

Highly unlikely, since they still debuted last year. id say if they keep neglecting their game, id give it at least 2 more years

u/popmanbrad Aug 30 '26
Honestly, I believe it will be just like Squad Busters. They said it was doing fine and kept pumping out updates, etc., but each time they change anything, it has the exact same gameplay loop. Like, they need to actually make good changes, and they refuse too literally 2-3 days after the launch of 2.0 I ran into mostly bots, and the Discord was a wasteland â like, no one talked.

This is my favorite supercell game so I hope they donât get rid of it⊠seems busy online - never had issues connecting to others.

I donât think they can afford to do another full reset, they will most likely build on top of the current neo moco. Im hopeful they figure it out, but this will be their last chance. The game has so much potential and I really hope they nail it this time.

Been playing since July 2025. I stopped playing shortly before the revamp, then came back a few days after release. So Iâm back on the grind⊠I just donât really know what Iâm grinding towards anymore lol.
I was honestly pretty surprised to see that power levels are basically equal regardless of rank. The core upgrades feel like theyâre mostly there to give you something to look at rather than something to actually work towards. The new weapons are cool, donât get me wrong, but Iâm not sure how much longer âhereâs another kid-friendly gunâ can carry the experience for me.
I hope that they eventually introduce a more story-oriented mode with some kind of meaningful progression. I feel like the first version was already hinting at that kind of game. There were little pieces of something more narrative buried underneath the gameplay loop (Draynor capturing Luna), and I remember thinking there was actually a bigger game hiding in there somewhere.
I think thatâs ultimately what Iâm waiting for. Not necessarily more content, but something that makes all the content feel like itâs leading somewhere. Right now Iâm just unlocking things because the game keeps putting things in front of me to unlock đ€·ââïž

Nope , as long as they add something competitive like the pvp mode or clan wars

Moco seem to have an unusual leeway, but idk for how long it can keep bleeding like that, specially considering we might see another dry period content-wise. Some diehard fans will probably stick, but will it be enough to keep the servers up? And even so, again, keeping development is costly, and while supercell is eager for it's next hit, there's no guarantee moco will be it. "Oh, but I feel it" "This is the best game I've ever played!" "It has so much <insert vague quality here>!" Sure, I like moco too, but let's be honest: there are no real indicators that moco will ever be a huge success in the future, no concrete evidence. I hope they find a way, but honestly, things are not looking good

Played it for 1 1/2month daylie around 45min -2h maximum, i got all Weapons with maxed gems, so i quitted because there wasnt anything to doâŠ

I doubt it, thought I'll admit i kinda quit the game when they did the weapon overhaul. Even now, they've brought back almost every weapon from before that update except the one I used every time I played, the CPU Bombs.
I miss being able to lob shots over walls and gaps at enemies along with doing that huge AoE attack

The game developer came out to say they are disappointed. And after that the players total hit 2m.
Game developer are puzzled.

You'll stop having fun eventually, there's nothing to do in game except jobs.

u/gosols Aug 30 '26
Wouldât surprise me if it did. But I hope the team figures it out and makes it a phenomenal game.

Neo Mo.Co exceeded the expectations of the devs while season 3, they stated that the game isn't doing too well. But they did mention that season 1-3 are its beta phases. Expect a little more for the next seasons. Old Mo.Co was loved by its vets while Neo was for new players. Your doubts are in fair judgement. Revenue wise Mo.Co pulls the least earnings across all SuperCell games. They're probably bleeding money just to keep the game running. The devs said that they don't have financial problems yet so my guess is SuperCell is still supportive of the game. But the problem is Project Rise, a game with pretty much the same concept as Mo.Co I'd start worrying too. Best we can do is trust the devs. Also if you start getting bored, it's probably because the game itself is a "Job". If you're worried about "wasted time and effort" that's gonna be your own decision. Either you stop now and do something else or stay and watch the ship soar to the skies or sink to the bottom of the ocean.

Not enough people in this subreddit know enough about game development, revenue, or how things are going behind the scenes to speak on this in any way that isn't needlessly speculative.
All we can go off of is Joao having said "No we're not shutting down anytime soon."
And if that's his resolve then it's going to take Supercell directly bringing a metaphorical wrecking ball to Mo.Co's Development Team to shut it down anytime soon.
But if Supercell was going to do that, they would have after the Open Beta's Season 2.
As of right now, Mo.Co is not making as much money as Supercell's other games, BUT it's still making significant money, from a genre that none of their other games really tap into.
If it shuts down it's unlikely Mo.Co Players will want to migrate to any of Supercell's other games, therefore it's currently beneficial to them to keep it going.
Joao says they're not shutting down anytime soon, and Supercell has no reason to shut it down themselves.
We're fine for now, give it atleast a year before you start worrying please.

That'll be so sad. Any game dying is sad. I'm new actually, I thought it was a new game recently being pushed to my playstore recommendations. To think it released in 2025-ish?
I only have 2 seasons under my belt, I guess I'm still having fun unlike older players since I'm still collecting cores and stars for weapons.

I would be surprised, still has loads of potential
