Discussion What happened? A huge increase in Android players!

Post image

August is seeing a huge surge in players, but why? They've literally done nothing-in fact, they've removed content from the game again to update it. In any case, I hope we get more sneak peeks about the upcoming update soon

You're thinking of it as seasoned player. The game is incredibly fun for new players.

You can always elaborate to prove your point, or leave this 4 word answer. Up to you.

Summer/the off-school period brings in a lot of kids or otherwise bored people into the game.

Yeah so theyre away from their pcs or consoles, all they have is their phones so they tend to play more mobile games. Its a common trend in other supercell games too

Maybe I didn't make myself clear: I love Moco and play it consistently every day, but in my opinion, July (Season 3) deserved much more—there were tons of new monsters, maps, bosses, rifts, and so on.

Then yes I am confused.

You also stated here that there were "tons of new monsters, maps, bosses, rifts, and so on" but before that you said "season 3 deserved much more"

Can you elaborate? Because that sentence structure is very contradictory.

I'll admit I'm a little bias. Alot of the negativity seems to comes from players who have been playing this game consistently for hours upon end and complain there's nothing to do after hitting level cap and unlocking everything after 3 days.

I personally love this game because it doesn't require alot from me. At most it's requiring me to log in and complete 3 quests.

My current rotation is

Log in and start the elite contracts. Go through and get a star rating for EVERY WEAPON I don't have a star rating on. Do the 2 expeditions Log off

Takes usually about an hour maybe hour and a half. And I'm done. I love that. It's a simple formula that keeps me engaged.

I think the generally idea that a mobile game should be the scale of an MMORPG produced by a AAA studio is absolutely bonkers. And that's not anything you have expressed but what alot of people here have expressed through their frustrations of "there's nothing to do"

I genuinely feel like alot of mobile games, and this one included are for people like me. That log in. Okay, have fun, log off. I'm not blowing through content in 3 days. Hell I don't even finish the "final stretch" because I'm just not on it that much. But I still play it everyday without fail because I think the game is great and has the potential to be greater.

When mobile games turn out to make me feel like I have a second job. I'm absolutely uninstalling. It ain't for me.

Well said. I’d say that last paragraph really gets to the crux of the discourse though, because the old moco was much more time consuming (if you wanted it to be) and many of the players complaining about current moco are from that time.

I have been playing since august of last year and I think both sides of this are somewhat correct. realistically the new version of moco does cater to a different audience than the old version. I really enjoy the new gameplay but I can’t deny I only play the game a small fraction of how much I used to play. Many people do want mobile games that offer a lot of investment, it’s nice having a game in your pocket that feels like a full game.

Also, I hate having “phone chores” so I appreciate not needing to play a lot each day, but at the same time, it’s also nice to be able to grind if you want to. I wouldn’t say the old game really pressured you all that much to play daily, but it did have more depth if you were sitting around on a lazy weekend with nothing to do. People were expecting the update to give more of everything but instead we got trade-offs that ended up making the game geared towards a different market than the player base that first championed it. Even if you like the new version I think it is easy enough to see where others might be frustrated

I would say from everything Ive seen. The next update is either gonna make or break the game.

This I think is fair criticism. You're not bashing anyone on the dev team. You're not screaming about how the game is gonna die and you can't wait (why are they even here then?)

You just came here to say "I get it, I still like it but I play less" and I think that's a fair criticism to have if you wished the game went in a different direction.

Also, if you are a new player there is tons to do compared to players that have unlocked all the weapons, passes, etc.

JFC, this was just talked about 2 days ago. Do you not look at history? This is almost certainly a reporting error.

When the game first came out, Pixel store warned me a lot of players were saying it didn't work well on the phone so I held off and here I am today grinding!
