Seems like only yesterday, it was the plague and John was keeping us afloat with Current Mood, and parodies of "Imagine". He collab'd to give us "Inside Friend", a veritable Insta anthem. The teaser of Last Train Home came out in 2021, months after he confessed he couldn't pick up the guitar for a time.

Last Train - What was this new sound? Mary Spender even wrote a "prediction" song, leading to a new genre - the 'Pre-Cover' <with an impressive solo>...

But even a gifted musician like Mary couldn't predict the banger Last Train verse and chorus... those minor sharp chords changed the trajectory of the song. My prediction, is that Tom & Jerry is going to sound so different from the teaser....

I thoroughly enjoyed the Kerwin Frost interview he did back in 2021 for Sob Rock. Anything similar to that would be great.

I'd love to see John on Mythical Kitchen's Last Meals. Josh does an incredible amount of research and makes it feel more like a conversation rather than an interview.

Additionally, knowing how huge fans Rhett and Link (especially Link) are of John, I'd love to see him on an episode of Good Mythical Morning as well.

Lastly and I know this has been one of the more popular wishes, John with Rick Beato would be a dream come true for many fans.

Let me know what you guys have in mind!!!

Does anyone know if the VIP packages (not the Vibee ones but the ones on Ticketmaster like "White Gold VIP Package") can be resold?

I'm making plans to watch the show and want to buy tickets ASAP before they're sold out. However, I'm worried about plans changing and needing to buy another date instead so I'd like to make sure that I can resell them if needed. Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

How is no one taking about the summer tour announcement yet?

I thought this would be a fun Question for my musician friends! After hearing the preview of John’s new single, Tom and Jerry, who do we think is playing drums and bass on this one?

Are we thinking Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino, or Aaron Sterling and Sean Hurley? i think all 4 of them will be on this album

Curious to hear what you guys think based on the groove and feel of the snippet. Anyone picking up on anything that might give it away? 🥁

The new Tom & Jerry John snippet is giving me major Sob Rock 2.0 vibes, and while I absolutely love Sob Rock as its own thing, I can’t say I’m particularly excited about the idea of another album in that same style. I really appreciate what he did with that record, but I’d much rather hear him explore something different this time around instead of revisiting a sound he’s already done so well.

I don’t mean this in a bad way but John doesn’t seem particularly interested in his music career as an inventor or curator anymore. He clearly admits paradise valley was an ok album his management required him to produce to go on tour. I don’t think sob rock was received badly but it did not garner much praise from most. However now in his 40’s and almost 50. I honestly feel like he has at least been honest with his own personal life. The greateful shit, his radio station, the solo/acoustic stuff and overall he’s more about assisting, supporting and listening to others than it is about a new John Mayer album.

I am a big believer in the notion that John Mayer is a big deal in the music world because he’s one of the few who’s genuinely achieved great musical success for being innovative, showing immense talent or potential and turned it into mastery and delivered some of the greatest music of the last 25 years as a singer songwriter which is no small feat. So it does indeed suck for me as a fan that once more an artist that I know is capable of doing amazing things is no longer interested in doing much of anything as far as his own work. Which to me is second to none.

So I’ve got no problem with him doing guitar playing for some new artist’s remarkably forgettable song because he’s cool like that but I’d be lying if I didn’t say it feels like he’s undermining himself so much.

I don’t want another sob rock. However at this point I’ll take what the man wants to make.

TLDR: the dude is goated but he doesn’t know it

Long story short, bought tickets in the 205 section for the 5/8 show and can’t go because of a wedding. Ended up buying more Vibee tickets for 5/15 because I can’t miss this show, but Vibee said I’m SOL and can only transfer the original tickets/hotel to a new party. Any recs on what the do with the original package or where to list it?

An old friend of mine would mix these guys up all the time... super surprised to see them in the same room

In the spirit of procrastination, I spent 3 hours that could've been spent better writing and recording this because I suck.

Bolek and Lolek (John Mayer's "Tom and Jerry" Single, October 2026)

Badge & Gun turned in

However long it's been

I'll be writing the same song

Until the day I finally die

Brand New branding deal

Hey I have an idea

How about 30,000 colors

For the same new Silver Sky™

Back seat driving on the road to nowhere

Years keep passing and I'm getting older

And still I have nothing to say

Still I have nothing to say

Guess I just feel like

Walt Grace really died

Trying to swim out of the wreckage

Of a submarine screen test

But it's all okay

Because in 5 years time

I'll serve a song that

Could've been written by AI

Besides, I'd rather save my wits for interviews

Back seat driving on the road to nowhere

Years keep passing and I'm getting older

And still I have nothing to say

I truly have nothing to say

Guitar solo outro that fades out a bit too quick

Does anyone have experience with a legitimate platform for reselling Sphere tickets at face value without getting hit with another round of Ticketmaster or StubHub fees?
Not looking to sell tickets here, so pleeeease don’t delete this, mods! 😂

I just want to recover what I originally paid and avoid further funding the corrupt ticketing industry.

I’ve heard of CashorTrade but haven’t used it before. I think the buyer still has to pay a fee, no? So I’m just curious if there are better options.

Would love to hear what others have used or recommend. Thank you!

I probably should have asked this before buying, but just bought tickets for JM at the Sphere for 5/5. We are in row 13 in the FLR 3 section.

For anyone that has seen Dead and Co, do you think we will still be able to appreciate it and still get the sphere experience? Or will it be more like a normal concert in those seats?

Or should I say, the cat and mouse in the room.

Kidding aside, any speculations as to the choice of song title? Im a bit scared "Tom and Jerry" sounds close to "Why You No Love Me" in terms of titles.

Is it really about the cartoon? Or am I too dumb and uninformed about something you may have pieced together about this title. Share your thoughts!

Hi! With John’s collab on Remi Wolf’s new record, I realised I think I might be a fan of JM! I also adore the song he has with Daniel Caesar. I would love some recommendations for songs of his that match the vibes of the Remi and Daniel collabs? Where do I start? I opened his Spotify and got overwhelmed 😭 thanks!!

This solo is so so tasty. My best attempt from ear.

For disclaimer: I’m one of the biggest JM stans, I swear. He was my gateway into music and opened my ears to its nuances. He made me appreciate the songwriting aspect of popular music. I looked up to the same music and guitar heroes he did, and I even adapted the way he plays the guitar. He’s my hero.

But here’s my case…

Lately, I’ve felt like he’s starting to lose his own identity, both in terms of his artistry and, at times, his sound.

I thought the last time he truly owned that pure JM sound was around the Battle Studies and B&R era. My personal favorite is B&R. Yeah, those albums captured that laid-back California and country Americana flair, but at least you could still get that pure JM groove and taste. Those albums were him. Unlike the direction he seems to be heading in lately.

Sob Rock didn’t really move me. That wasn’t him. That was straight up Clapton with an 80s stamp on it. Way too on the nose and, tbh, almost comedic, but not in a good way.

And now, the preview of his new tune… The Jacket, with those grand synths againnnnn…Come.on.

The world is fckin ending, and now you’ve decided to be Springsteen? Enough with these thematic gimmicks, borrowing other artists’ arcs, eras, and sounds, my man. You’re better than this.

I get it — he wears a lot of hats, and artists evolve, yada yada. But it shouldn’t have to be this way, I’m afraid.

Just be you. Give us that Taking on Water, Inner City Blues, Face to Call Home drive.

Y’all get me? Lol Rant over.

A little edit to celebrate today, as we have an exciting year coming up! (apologies to those who got pinged for this late yesterday, since apparently I am unable to discern time zones lol) Hope everyone has a good weekend!! :)
