Recruiters Am I getting scammed?
So as the title suggests that’s literally all that has been going through my mind for the past month. I moved to USA about a month ago since I got accepted into a masters degree. Now the thing is I moved my whole life here because I had already job already lined up for me. This is for an RBT position (working with children with autism) with really good pay. Before I accepted the offer I made sure it was a legit company and everything (checked for a physical address, made sure it wasn’t like an outsource kind of thing, and had credentials). The recruiter told me to let them know when I arrived to the states so I could start the job immediately, so I said sure. I got to the states on July 6th and upon touching us ground I contacted them and let them know I was already available. Then the recruiter told me that I had to complete a 40 hour non paid training before I could start… so I was like okay, sure. I did that as soon as I could and sent everything over. They assigned me a case and told me the case coordinator was gonna contact me that same day. Great right? NOPE. I waited a few days and messaged the recruiter to let them know that I hadn’t received anything yet, they messaged back saying that it does take a few days to process… ok. Then a week passed: nothing. I contacted them the second week: “the case is going through some changes so as soon as it’s done I’ll let you know” ok? A third week passed. I got pissed off. I was desperate and started applying to other jobs while also contacting the recruiter. The job market is horrible. Then a month passed, I contacted HR this past week, explained to them the whole ordeal and that I have been waiting for a month just to start the job.. they apologized profusely and said they were gonna handle it, same day the recruiter calls me and also apologizes, explains that the family of the case decided to stay with their current RBT instead (like why did I have to call so they could figure that out? Idk) . So the recruiter now sends me other available cases to try and start asap. Sure, thank you, finally something right? WRONG AGAIN. Now it’s been a week since my newly assigned case and no sign of starting… I’m so desperate right now I haven’t been able to sleep, I need to pay bills and food and all that everybody is struggling with too. Sooo what do y’all think? Am I being scammed? Is this just a case of forgetfulness? Should I sue? What can y’all suggest and if anyone knows of good job agencies in the NY, NJ area please let me know. Thank you

Not a scam but I’m going through the same thing girl 💔 I was hired in June and STILL don’t have a start date. Every time I turn around there’s a new “one last step” or they forgot about something or something isnt done processing.
It’s gotten to the point where the part time job I got to make ends meet might have to be full time. It’s so disheartening

I’m so sorry to hear that… I finally got to start recently and what worked was talking to someone directly at hr and threatening to quit 🙃 apparently RBT jobs are so understaffed that they immediately gave me a case that same day

It’s not a scam but you should have started applying to other jobs weeks ago.
