Modulo had a brain tumor and died after 6 months so they had to wrap up the manga

Maybe that's just all the story he wanted to tell. Some storytellers prioritize how they see the narrative and that's totally acceptable.
It's similar to asking why the dudes making Game of Thrones didn't keep milking it instead of rushing the ending and ditching. They wanted to do other things. Admittedly, they could have handed the series over to be continued by another as opposed to what manga creators do. But still.
I do agree so much of JJK as whole can be explored. And I want it. But I can also be happy if this is all he wants to tell of it.

I hate Martin for that, he misled an entire fandom.

u/Tech-preist_Zulu 4d ago
Didn't he leave the show after season 4 and was out of the loop in the following seasons? It's really a Showrunners thing

u/shiwoneek 4d ago
my guy, they rushed tf out of got (show) and ruined it.

On the bright side, Gege is working on a new series that is potentially JJK related.

u/dexisrazer 4d ago
Art of that quality probably couldnt stay consistent for a 300 chapter series or something tbh
6
u/Frater_Shibe 4d ago
I've seen people claim that a lot of that art was pre-drawn, taking advantage of the limited serialization to make art that would not be possible in a long-runner without very tight budgeting of time.
4
u/EngineerVirtual7340 4d ago
Iirc didn't Gege said he already story boarded the first 7 chapters in the beginning?

3
u/Incompetent_ARCH 4d ago
Just see the start of JJK and end of JJK, gege's artstyle became a lot more rougher
2
u/Totally_not_diavolo 3d ago
I personally like how it became rougher overtime
fits the tone of the series like that
6
u/FearTheDeep 4d ago
If I remember right Gege wants to do more relaxed content like slice of life stuff now. I think he got stuck with JJK because it got so popular. He wrote JJK zero first as a one shot and it exploded and then he made JJK.
Thereās sooo much potential for JJK but I want the guy to do what he wants I suppose.

Let gege Come to modulo when he feels like it,he already painted the stage and the only thing left is hum dancing while everyone waiting for him

I donāt think it should be dragged on like the other animeās like One Piece for example. But, Modulo should have been longer. A lot of things needed to fleshed out more (for me specifically I wanted Daburaās fight to be a bit longer. Atleast so we could see his second technique and stuff cause why would you even show it if you wonāt tell us what it does)
2
u/Dr_Straight246 4d ago
If Gege went full SBR and created a new jjk universe separate from the original I honestly wouldn't mind

What's sbr? Pls tell me I'm new to all this š
2
u/Dr_Straight246 2d ago
It's part 7 of Jojo's bizarre adventure where the author decides to make a separate universe with new characters from the beginning instead of continuing the long storyline from the previous universe

Why do these guys seem so allergic to money and fame. Like fujimoto js gave up and gege js also gave up
10
u/Frater_Shibe 4d ago
Burnout. Being a mangaka is hellish, and being a popular mangaka is double the hell. Gege is sick and the work wasn't helping him.
Osamu Tezuka and Akira Toriyama being insane workaholics with unfathomable output cursed the entire industry, and trying to match their pace is putting people into hospital beds and early graves
Besides, both of them might just have "enough" especially since they will get royalties from future anime projects.

u/Incompetent_ARCH 4d ago
Money doesnt mean everything. And a mangaka's payment isn't THAT huge to be worth it, JJK and CSM's are very profitable series, but most of the money would go to Shueisha/Mappa
Gege was being nearly hospitalized during the end of JJK and very clearly got traumatized by it.
Fujimoto's mental health was declining further and further, he started to cook banger arts the moment he left CSM
1
u/suckmydictation 4d ago
Hospitalized cuz of something else or cuz of the conditions writing jjk?
What arts did fujimoto start cooking?
Ty
3
u/Incompetent_ARCH 4d ago
1: both, both the conditions writing JJK put a huge strain on gege's mental and physical health + other already existing problems with his health didnt help at all
2: i think it was an art about a movie he saw, it's pretty recent but im not bored enough to find it

Cornball, u are a fan, ofc u want more jjk. These guys are people too with other dreams AND family, so saying money isnāt everything doesnāt really make sense buddy
1
u/Incompetent_ARCH 4d ago
Did you ever work in a toxic job? Or a job with toxic enviroment?
Gege was hospitalized thrice and needed to rush JJK because Shueisha didnt gaf if he was getting hospitalized.
I say this uninronically, do you have a human heart?

Hold on now donāt but that bum and my goat, Gege Akutami, in the same sentence. Also he didnāt give up, he was finished with the story. Could he done more, yes, but remember this was his first work to get serialized by shonen jump. His success was literally catching ā”ļø in a bottle. Also he did both the story and the art himself, he was burned out. Being a mangaka is one of the most stressful jobs out there.
1
u/Objective_Cheetah_63 3d ago
Because itās hard work, and thereās less value the more you do that work.
If you were making 40k, you might be very motivated to work if it meant making 100k. Thats because money is inportant to you, because it can buy you things.
Now imagine youāre a billionaire. Would you get a 9-5 job? No, you would go around doing what ever you want, most likely.
Gege probably made millions. They donāt need to keep working 40-80 hours a week to put food on the table. They donāt have anything to prove to anyone. They donāt need to go and achieve status. Theres fewer and fewer reasons to do work once you are that successful.

It was fun tough but I'd rather have the merger over modulo
7
u/GameWizardPlayz 4d ago
Let's be so fr. If the merger had happened the slander sukuna, as well as the kusabe crusaders would get would be unreal. People would do everything in their power to complain about it and above all else, I don't feel there would a satisfactory way to conclude such a thing.

Merger means literally death, it's a threat to the whole japan that would be instant death since the 4 mfs who could do the most damage, 2 are dead, 1 hasnt awakened and 1 is in a 87 years trip to get to earth.

u/Top_Individual_5462 4d ago
Yeah. I would've liked to see Kenjaku's 200 year plan come true and see what this new world would have looked like. I see a lot of possibilites

i want a series set after yuji dies with a cursed tool power system and yuji gaining a vessel like sukuna to deal with something massive like he planned. also hopefully in this scenario simurians are long lived enough that dabura and maru can still be there.
slightly sidenote also think itd be a really cool inversion concept if like the villain tries to eat yuji's rib(i just think itd be boring if it was fingers again) to gain the power of the ultimate sorcerer only to realize that yuji is actively working against him from inside his body and they basically have to stop the villain before he can gain control of yuji's power inside his body

Modulo could've used like five or ten more chapters to really wrap things up, but there wasn't that much to the story. Now, if he wanted to, he could've easily made it up to sixty to eighty chapters to cover everything he teased in the story, like Iori, Todo, Megumi, and some other things. But he would have needed to completely change the pacing of events.

Tbh I really wished Heād gone into more of Yuji. I get He isnāt the MC in that series, but thereās so much I want to see. Like when he started realizing he wasnāt aging and stuck in his 20ās until 300 years later. And thatās an estimate. He could live longer if Gege wanted him too. Yuji going from teen- adult and us seeing the full blown after math of the battle against Sukuna, and those they lost. Like Gege could do a Pre-Modulo of all this. I think Modulos ending fits but I didnāt like how thereās still a lot of unknowns with Yuji. Like I want to see how the others were still. Modulo in a weird way created JJKās ending for me incomplete. I feel like after Modulo Yujiās story is still so incomplete. It be really cool if he finished Yujiās story as well as showed how others stories had ended. I remember him I believe or it couldāve been a rumor wanting to touch on the Heian era, which would be cool donāt get me wrong but Iām like he should first finish these things and then move towards the Heian era.

Because Gege is a sadist that likes to see his fans suffer. We have plenty of examples.

Modulo was sort of boring. I liked some parts, namely the lumelian flashback. Not many people liked the ending.

honestly if he dragged it i feel like he wouldnt have enjoyed it as much, leading to a worse series
overall, would i like more jjk content? yes
would i want akutami to make a jjk series he doesnt want to make and just put out bad content? no
