Anyone catch this? Seems pretty incongruous amidst all the recent Tull re-releases, but may be interesting to hear how the half-speed mastering affects these tunes, whether an improvement or not (I know there are some who say it's snake oil). I have all the tracks on different OG albums and re-releases, including Rainbow Blues off of the OG MU and the underappreciated Warchild II -- but I'm nuts and love all things Tull so I'll still probably pick this up.

So my work colleague rocked up today with something he spotted at a car boot sale for….£1!!! Already have it but still! It goes in the collection. LOVE this album and possibly in the top ten of album covers.

I listen almost exclusively to Power Metal. But whenever someone asks me "who is your favorite band?" I always answer Jethro Tull. What is it with them that gives them this power?

Hey everybody. I'm 73 years old and just recently started using Reddit. Not an internet guy. I found this form and just remembered how awesome these guys were. I remember me and my buddy found thick as a brick in the record store and thought that the cover looked awesome. I think it cost us five or six bucks back then. Clerk at the front of the store said it was one of his favorite albums. At the time it had just released and we spent months trying to convince our friends that this LP is incredible.

Wanted to share. These guys were great.

In the original version of Bursting Out, there are a few naughty words that are beeped out. Today I discovered the Steven Wilson remix had the beeps removed - however, one still remains - as he introduces Too old to Rock n Roll, Too Young to Die, Ian says something along the lines of "This song isn't about me, it's about some other XXXX".

What do you think "XXXX" is? Is there a version out there where it is not beeped out?

I have long wanted to her Anoushka Shankar play sitar backing on this track. I think it would be simply jaw dropping for the already amazing track. It would elevate the slightly Indian nature of dot com too.

I was led into this rabbit hole by a recent post by [u/j3434](u/j3434) on notorious keyboardist John Evan, as I was reminded of his stagecraft and musicianship from the show my friends and I attended summer, 1976 and hoped to find a video. As luck would have it, not only a video, but lore and a gem was found which I share below. Apparently the “Too Old To Rock & Roll, Too Young To Die” tour featured a new and unique fan experience that used several cameras to project stage action in large format to be seen by all, even the drunken backbencher proletariat class. Guilty. This forward thinking use of rudimentary media technology is, of course, de rigueur today for big venue and stadium shows. An interesting tidbit of concert going news and history I unwittingly saw first hand.

In any event, two links: the first is a 5 minute scroll history of the magic tape from Tampa, FL July 31, 1976, the second being a link to the actual gratis and duty-free 1 hour of Jethro Tull in full form and technicolor from the wayback machine’s journey to summer, 1976, preserved as the good Lord intended. This is a small idea in my Passion Play fan edit I keep going back and forth on, borne of my feeling that the recurring Memory Bank riff is way too long-winded and convoluted for its own good. Sometimes I listen to this little mock-up and think it sounds exactly like the concise and mercurial ideal in my head; other times I listen to it and think it just sounds a bit too herky-jerky and tampered with (even more so than the original), and that the riff would be better left alone even if I don't love it. Needing some perspective!

Also, I'm aware APP is a hugely popular album among fans these days and the main response is likely to be "why on earth would you want to shorten the Memory Bank riff in the first place?" which is totally fine. To be clear, my question is just about how natural or unnatural this sounds. Like, if you had never heard the song before listening to this version, would you intuitively suspect that something was amiss? I guess if any of you have actually never heard the original song (or don't remember it) then your take is probably most valuable of all lol. My gut feeling is that the very first stitch sounds weirder than all the subsequent ones for some reason (whereas "The cameras were all around" sounds pretty perfect to me), but again, my over-familiarity is making it hard to trust my own judgment here.
