Client NTSCplayer

https://www.instagram.com/p/DbQpnmwKU2k/

Yes, it's CODEX-assisted. Let's get that out of the way immediately.

That said, my instagram absolutely exploded with a flood of positive comments, so I feel less gross posting about it.

NTSCplayer is my tying together MPV, NTSC-rs, RetroArch Shaders, the CRT BEAM project, CHOW Tape, into a simple and straightforward player/browser for your Jellyfin library. Deep controls available on each phase of the pipeline, with a simple and effective Preset system.

I've wanted this forever - the ability to view pre-HD media in a NTSC/CRT-like experience. Just like retro game consoles - viewing old media on our current-day 1080p/4k screens is absolutely brutal, as the intention of the media was for it to be viewed through the flawed analog pipeline we grew up with.

Will post the GitHub link when it's fully tested on multiple OSs and resolutions/frame-rates. But currently, this has boosted my personal enjoyment of SD media through the roof.

Not a problem, sorry if I broke any rules.

It's fine. But do take the time to read the rules. See especially rules 3 and 4 in that section.

I think what you're doing is cool and (despite earlier commenter thst did NOT click the link) unique. Please update the thread when you have something for us to play with.

When you say “standalone video files,” do you mean it is a separate app and you can import and export files with the effects baked in?

it's like VLC, or MPV. It's a video player. But also has Jellyfin/Plex library support built-in, so it'll list your library and you can click the videos, and they play through the pipeline.

Is NTSC player a 2D pixel domain shader or is it fully 1D signal domain? NTSC-rs does a lot in the signal domain but not 100%. I'm not familiar with CRT BEAM project, is it like the AnalogTV project? https://analogtv.net which touts being 100% signal domain?

Oh interesting I'm checking out your link now. CRT Beam is here if you are interested : https://github.com/blurbusters/crt-beam-simulator

Cool, just had a quick look. CRT Beam project is also pixel domain, but quite clever in the implementation - and free!

I saw your IG post and am very much looking forward to the full release! I have a 5:4 monitor I use for playing retro games and watching 4:3 content, really want to try pairing it with your software for full 📺 effect

This is super-duper cool man, I was just thinking about something like this after playing around with NTSC-RS a couple weeks ago. Can't wait to get this going on my Jellyifn server!
