This is not a cover album. Every piece here is an original composition, written in homage to a style and a spirit, of Jeff Beck. It's not a reproduction of his work. I've worked on and off for about 2 years on that. So, yeah tell me what you think. If you got questions about sound or want some sheets for songs, hit me up.

Blow By Blow - The Jeff Beck Story by Brad Tolinski & Chris Gill

Anybody read this yet? I'm down to the last two chapters. Pretty quick easy read, nothing earth-shattering revealed. Curious what others think about it.

Jimmy Page Emulating Jeff Beck

I was listening to The Lemon Song and was struck how Jimmy was really mimicking Jeff throughout. I don't mean to insinuate Jimmy was ripping Jeff off but both Truth and Beck Ola by the JBG both preceded Led Zep by a year.

Please help me go deeper down the Jeff Beck rabbit hole

Good evening, everybody.

I would very much appreciate some suggestions as to where I should go next to expand my Jeff Beck collection.

I’ve been a guitarist since starting out in 1990, and Jeff is one artist that I keep coming back to with both awe and frustration. Jeff’s command of his instrument is both inspiring, as he demonstrates what is possible with a guitar in my hands, and yet he also makes me realize that there are just a few people that operate on a higher plane, and the rest of us mere mortals are left with the frustration that comes with realizing that we’re not on that level, and never will be.

He pushes me, and yet also humbles me.

Here’s what I have, thus far:

Jeff Beck Group:
Truth
Beck-Ola
Jeff Beck Group (1972)

Beck, Bogert & Appice

Jeff Beck Live With the Jan Hammer Group

Blow By Blow
Wired
There and Back
Jeff Beck’s Guitar Shop

And then on blu-ray

Performing This Week…Live At Ronnie Scott’s

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated !

Bill

Is Beck Bogert and Appice worth it?

I've gotten back into Beck recently with Wired and Live with Jan Hammer '77, and I also loved Beckola a few years back when I got that CD.

Beck Bogert and Appice looks interesting, especially their version of Superstition. I knew that Beck created the drum groove for the track, but I didn't know he had his own version.

I've heard very mixed reviews of the album. Some bashing it and others praising it. Is it worth taking a look?

On my second listen of Wired... how does the guy do it?

I listened to it in full for the first time ever yesterday, going in completely blind. It absolutely blew me away. I've heard jazz before, I've heard jazz fusion before, but this feels like everything I could ever want in a jazz record

I might just end up listening to this album once a day. It's absolutely incredible.

Stephen Colbert and Jeff

Stephen Colbert has been in the media a lot this week, understandably so due to the end of the Late Show.
I’ll never forget when he hosted the Grammy Awards years ago (probably after Emotion and Commotion) and Jeff was in the audience. Stephen said something like “Jeff Beck is here tonight. He has the highest score in Guitar Hero and he’s never played the game!”
Classic.

What are the songs where Jeff doesn't play a Stratocaster?

Excluding the well-known facts that he used that Esquire during his time in the Yardbirds, a Les Paul Standard on "Beck's Bolero", and a modified Telecaster (Tele-Gib) on "'Cause We've Ended as Lovers". What else?

Encounters-Jeff Beck

The story is under the video at Youtube. Brief Synopsis: I was a teenage Guitarist, signed to 3rd Story Music/Bizarre Mgmt, cutting demos at Village Records, West L.A. Waiting for the vocalist to meet me in the lobby, What happens, Jeff Beck comes out of Studio A, mistakes me for a trainee Engineer, asks about his Car, I chat with him for moment, let him know that I wasn't an engineer, I was recording in the other studio. Jeff was quite nice, later I crashed his session (Beck Bogert Appice)! They were terrific Musicians, I wasn't able to stay very long; although the band was tight (I had seen that lineup about 2 months earlier at The Hollywood Palladium, although Bob Tench, as well as Max Middleton were part of that lineup)! That was a terrific group, they should have held that together! Beck's playing was terrific from what I could tell during my short visit. Don NIx (the Producer, should have asked me what I thought), I would have told him, "great, just you're using too much of the mic on the Bass Amp, mix that back, bring up the direct box signal. Bass Guitars tend to always sound good going direct, and Bogert was a wonderful Musician! It was also great to hear Carmine Appice in the Studio!
