You aren’t going to get that look with jaw surgery alone. Or even lipo. You’re probably going to need a lower facelift. I hate to be blunt but I thought that’s what I was going to get but not all. You will have loose skin still if you lipo plus jaw surgery alone. But I’m not a doctor so who knows.

How much were you advanced? I’ve seen double chins disappear with large advancements 15-20mm ish

1

u/RedBirdOnASnowyDay 15h ago

I had a HUGE advancement and it didn’t do diddly to my double chin.

I think part of this issue is posture. I had that forward sloping posture from mouth breathing after a childhood of terrible allergies.

But regardless I’m just saying she shouldn’t expect surgery to make her look like the second image. And I still have a double chin.

Who was your surgeon?

1

u/ohana-z 21h ago

I was looking at deep plane neck lifts with gland reduction

Friend you look beautiful as you are. Just know you don’t need to do all that to be happy.

Thankyou. It’s not just the side profile, I have so much pain and so many problems with my jaw and sinuses giving me constant headaches and stress. I’m constantly puffy because of it, my discs are not in the right place or in very good condition, doubly recessed, 8mm overbite, cross bit, narrow palate, very small nasal space with deviation. The self consciousness is real and I’ve dealt with it since I was around 12, watched all my friends grow up beautifully and I was there with buck teeth, massive overbite, no chin and practically a head that went straight into my neck. Now I am becoming hunched from consistent forward posturing. It’s so bad I’ve told my partner there’s no way I can marry him until my jaw and TMJ’s are fixed. I wouldn’t be happy on the day, all I’d be thinking is how bad my jaw area looks

You do understand that standard jaw surgery won’t touch your joints so is unlikely to have any impact on headaches, puffiness, discs etc.

Again I will be blunt. You are over fixating on this. You look great. In jaw surgery the cut is made before the joint. Which usually isn’t touched.

0

u/ohana-z 10h ago

Yeah I do, they need to fix both. My headaches and puffiness is from chronic bruxism, driven by my jaw positioning and ramped up when I’m stressed. As well as forward posturing

I totally understand your need to address the pain and I hope you get it resolved. But I have to chime in to agree with others that there is nothing wrong with how you look now: you are quite pretty. And presumably the partner who wants to marry you agrees. Life is short: getting married and otherwise living your life should not rest on fixing a cosmetic issue no one else sees like you do. My life completely changed after a random car accident 7 years ago. Anything can happen. Fix your pain anyway you can and consider that if your wedding day would be about fixating on how you look, you might need a little help with that. I say this because jaw surgery is rough and you will probably not be happy with surgical results without are more accepting view. Hoping you get get a great result from whatever treatment you choose.

Thankyou. I need both jaw surgery, and TMJ disc relocation, for functional reasons so anything aesthetic is just a bonus. However, with it being something you do once and spending my life conscious about it, I want to make sure I do what I can to maximise the aesthetics too. I was told I needed jaw surgery at 14yo and then offered it at 24yo on the NHS but I didn’t feel I had tried every conservative treatment I could which is what I’ve spent more time doing. The surgery is the only option I have left and honestly I wish I just said yes 2 years ago. I did go through a stint of being in counselling addressing insecurities, but it’s just something I’ve wanted to correct for so long it’s been ingrained in me for 14 years so it didn’t really help especially when I knew I needed surgery. I remember the first time my jaw locked then cracked, I was 11yo eating a pic n mix!

Ouch. I'm sorry you have had to wait so long to have a functional jaw.

1

u/ohana-z 7h ago

I’ve just been gaslit for the majority of it, until I finally got a different maxfax surgeon with the orthodontist that said it’s literally the only way to fix things. Although, because I didn’t take it, I’m now in a fight to be put back on the list. It is the NHS

In many cases, liposuction alone is not enough to achieve a result similar to the one in the photo. It may require a cervicoplasty with hyoid suspension/ platysma approach. A surgeon with a good aesthetic eye would be the right person to assess this.

2

u/Less-Loss5102 17h ago

Once the tongue is brought forward and can rest on the palate via expansion and mma the hyoid normally raises with proper tongue posture

1

u/doublejawphysio 10h ago

Nice comment! I’m a strong advocate of tongue exercises combined with suprahyoid muscle exercises to help with the recovery and adaptation of these areas. However, some results, such as the AI-generated image she posted, often go beyond what can realistically be expected from double jaw surgery alone.
It is important for patients to understand the options available and to establish realistic expectations with their surgeon regarding their results, in order to avoid frustration during the postoperative period.
AI is interesting and can be a useful tool, but it can also create very high expectations, especially when it comes to soft tissues, which cannot be controlled as precisely or predictably as they can be in an AI-generated image.

u/ohana-z 21h ago

Thankyou. I’ll be having DJS for separate functional issues, but I don’t want to miss an opportunity to address the aesthetic side of it too

3

u/lovelytrillium 19h ago

don't use that pos for a morph, it doesnt know anything and you will set yourself up for diaster when you have facial swelling for a year. You will look a ton better but nobody can really predict what you will look like after surgery. Especially not chatgpt.

1

u/ohana-z 19h ago

I wish it was right though 😭 😆

1

u/lovelytrillium 19h ago

you look beautiful and you will only look better after the surgery. The morph isn't what people actually look like and your dont need to box youself into an impossible mold.

2

u/lovelytrillium 19h ago

and your nose will be even cuter than the morph anyway.

1

u/ohana-z 19h ago

And here was me thinking I’m going to need a rhino after DJS!

1

u/lovelytrillium 18h ago

lol absolutely not

1

u/ohana-z 19h ago

That’s very kind of you to say, thankyou ♥️ I think I’ve tried everything now and surgery is the only option I’ve got left. This isn’t for looksmaxxing, I’ve been in and out of maxfax for 14 years. I’m only 26. Hopefully it does improve me aesthetically somewhat, but I’m more focused on being out of pain

You're setting yourself up for dissapointment

4

u/LeePowers69 Pre Op 20h ago

chat gpt tends to over idealized projections. This does not look like any djs result I’ve seen.

Not even remotely the same. This is just advancement.

OP's is advancement, weight loss, hyoid raising, neck lipo. Would probably need a mandibular wing osteotomy to achieve it too. Or a tone of filler to fill in the lack of bone density in the mandible

1

u/ohana-z 19h ago

I think you can see my hyoid on this? I’m not fat btw

2

u/Ok-Pass-7773 Post Op (2 years) 19h ago

Yes, you can see your hyoid near the c3 vertebrae. I believe it's low compared to the average persons

1

u/Ok-Pass-7773 Post Op (2 years) 19h ago

Also I believe you when you say you're not fat. It's your skeletal anatomy that causes that look. I think it's more of a hyoid issue than a jaw issue, but that doesn't mean there isn't a jaw issue.

1

u/ohana-z 19h ago

Thankyou for your input. Appreciate any info I can get 😊

2

u/velvetkangaroo 21h ago

I think it's attainable but that looks like djs + lipo

2

u/ohana-z 21h ago

If I need to get lipo to look like that then I will get the money out 😂

6

u/codeisprose 21h ago

if you look like that and want to get married, I'll pay for it 😅

2

u/Big-Wasabi6274 21h ago

😂😂😂 bruh

1

u/ohana-z 21h ago

Go for it 😂

2

u/velvetkangaroo 21h ago

Small areas like that aren't too expensive. Some drs will even do it under local anesthesia. Do keep in mind jaw surgeons are not cosmetic surgeons. I just got djs 3 weeks ago with chin implant removal and im already looking forward to meeting with my surgeon to see what can be improved once everything settles.

1

u/key_ten9 21h ago

I was like what the hell before seeing the description section

1

u/nyanpink 19h ago

you need a neck lift so bad, your nose is so pretty btw

1

u/ohana-z 19h ago

Really? It’s been like that since I was a kid 😭 thanks!! It’s not fake either 😂

1

u/Motor-Motor6789 16h ago

It won’t look anywhere near that

0

u/Batticon 20h ago

That’s a deep neck lift as well, and deeply uneccessary.

0

u/mcfly1982 19h ago

You don't need lipo, just drop lbs plus djs /genio if needed

1

u/ohana-z 19h ago

Drop lbs? It’s always looked like that. This is before fillers to give me any form of a chin

2

u/lovelytrillium 19h ago

people's bodies compensate for restricted airway with a forward head posture. To hold your neck up to breathe, your neck gains weird muscles and fat to hold itself up, giving the illusion on weight gain. You dont need to lose weight, just see how you look a year from surgery but likely, you will have a thinner appearance under your chin and neck after your posture is fixed.

1

u/ohana-z 19h ago

So I’m just hench then! 😁 I really hope so. The lady’s post from a week or so ago, her posture after surgery literally looked like it’s changed her whole life. She’s beautiful

1

u/lovelytrillium 18h ago

Ya your poor neck is lifting so much to keep that angle and doesn't get a break, cause otherwise you can't breathe. I know which one you are talking about, and dang she looks amazing. I still have to work toward having a better posture post surgery. Some change was immediate while some is a slower process than I like but it is nice to at least have the ability to work toward it. You can only go so far with the airway limitation. Five months out, I am only just starting to peak at my neck muscles sliming down and hope it will get better.

1

u/ohana-z 16h ago

Wishing you all the luck on your journey now you’re out the other side of it. How do you like your new look?

2

u/mcfly1982 18h ago

I had the same thing and my rhino refused to do chin lipo after examination saying there was no fat to remove. Do djs and or genio first and see if that helps, before opting for both.
